aepelbacher 0 Posted November 25, 2005 I love the detail and the depth of the color tones. This is gorgeous!! 7/7 Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted November 26, 2005 it looks like blown by the wind and at the same time it's dry and we know it must be rigid - your title hits it! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 26, 2005 I like using a sepia layer to "age" color shots. It seemed to work well with a dead rose. Thanks for the comments! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted November 26, 2005 This is a complex image for a flower photo, Kim.. . I really like the color palette and the variety of shapes and textures. . .as you said, the sepia toning works really well in toning down the image. . very nice interpretation. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 27, 2005 Beautiful colours and an imaginative treatment. I like the bit of blur on the right. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 27, 2005 I would have preferred all sharpness in the rose, Colin, but actually the blurred bit does convey movement, as in "dance", I hope. Thanks to all of you for commenting. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 27, 2005 Kim, I love the gentle color here! How wise to take advantage of a muted, neutral background. While I would have preferred the entire flower sharp, it isn't critical. I hope we'll see more of these. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 27, 2005 Laurie, I made it more muted by using a sepia layer. I've come to like doing that to "age" a shot. Since this rose bush is in my yard, and since it often has dead flowers on it, I can play some more. :) Thanks for visiting. Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted November 29, 2005 Very nice, simple, shot, Kim. I notice you are in Texas. Did you bring it inside to shoot it? I have some rose bushes, but the wind in Oklahoma has been blowing about fifty miles an hour for the last week, so I can't try to steal your idea - at least outside. Tough to focus on flowers, dead or alive. Great eye and great image. Cheers. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Barry, this was outside. A few days ago, I had about a half dozen blooming! Being originally from Canada, it's very strange to me to see roses blooming in November! Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Kim, this is lovely and I have to disagree with the need for sharpness all around. Considering the title you have given and the impression you are trying to create, it stands to reason that while dancing, there would be movement blur in the area extending most from the 'body'. This is also providing a contrast to the very sharp areas which have such great textural detail in them. I think you did just fine. Link to comment
owp 0 Posted September 30, 2006 Kim, this flower shot really stands out for me. Very nice. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 1, 2006 Thanks, Oliver. I was shooting only nice pretty ones when I thought this might be a bit of a change. Link to comment
