This is a complex image for a flower photo, Kim.. . I really like the color palette and the variety of shapes and textures. . .as you said, the sepia toning works really well in toning down the image. . very nice interpretation.

I would have preferred all sharpness in the rose, Colin, but actually the blurred bit does convey movement, as in "dance", I hope. Thanks to all of you for commenting.

Kim, I love the gentle color here! How wise to take advantage of a muted, neutral background. While I would have preferred the entire flower sharp, it isn't critical. I hope we'll see more of these.

Laurie, I made it more muted by using a sepia layer. I've come to like doing that to "age" a shot. Since this rose bush is in my yard, and since it often has dead flowers on it, I can play some more. :) Thanks for visiting.

Very nice, simple, shot, Kim. I notice you are in Texas. Did you bring it inside to shoot it? I have some rose bushes, but the wind in Oklahoma has been blowing about fifty miles an hour for the last week, so I can't try to steal your idea - at least outside. Tough to focus on flowers, dead or alive. Great eye and great image. Cheers.

Barry, this was outside. A few days ago, I had about a half dozen blooming! Being originally from Canada, it's very strange to me to see roses blooming in November!

Kim, this is lovely and I have to disagree with the need for sharpness all around. Considering the title you have given and the impression you are trying to create, it stands to reason that while dancing, there would be movement blur in the area extending most from the 'body'. This is also providing a contrast to the very sharp areas which have such great textural detail in them. I think you did just fine.
