Lou Ann! this is a lovely shot. I think sepia here works fantastically: gives a feeling of early 20ies of last century :)

The composition is great too :)

I really like the composition and tones in this one. My only nits are that the sharpness seems a little soft and it needs a little more contrast. But that's just my opinion. Hope you don't mind my sharing this alternate crop.

No, Ken - I'm thrilled that you shared your version! I played with the contrast, up and down. Every time I pulled it up, I lost the detail in the shutters. How did you do that?

I used a combination of the shadows/highlight function and levels in PS CS2. PS CS1 also has the shadow/highlights feature. To me, it is one of the most useful new functions CS added. To get to it, go to Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlights and then play with the sliders. BTW, I've added an original musical composition to my latest post that you commented on before I added the music. Hope you can check the music out too. Best regards.

Lou Ann, I much prefer the sharpened one as it has more bounce. The first image looks abit flat to me. Nice catch. Going to San Francisco next week to do northern California for 2 weeks.

Nice bit of observation and the composition works well. I like the sharpened version except it has lost the textures of the walls. The sepia adds a nice touch of atmsophere. regards - Colin

Very well seen Lou Ann, and composed, I like a lot the decorated ( dots? ) curtain in the window and the flowers, adds a poetic point and soft touch to the rectangled window and frame.Sepia is well used here as was said already. Pnina

Ken's got a point with the sharpness...on the other hand the slightly soft feel gives it even more the effect of being an aged photo. Nice work!

I like the composition of different elements. Ken did a fine job of further enhancing the image. Gotta love those light fixtures and windows!

Great ambience , Lou Ann. Couldn't be anything but sepia ! I'm still in two minds about the Soft / Hard choice. One would think the subject calls for a soft rendition - but the hard version is attractive , too. Well , I suppose I just like the image - whichever way !! Mind you , I would have preferred just a little more 'breathing space' around the margins...

You know, Walter, the "breathing space" issue I would have to agree with. :-) But I had to play with the perspective SO much from the original shot that I had to chop off some of the more pleasing stuff from around the outside that would have made it easier to look at.... Thanks for your comments!!

The sepia tone, the dotted cutrains & the potted plant at the window takes me back to the 50s. Good use of the 2 side 'poles' as lamp.
