mari_mar 0 Posted November 23, 2005 Good pic Lou Ann, great composition, color and datails. Feliz Dia de Gracias! :) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 25, 2005 I like the sepia - it suits the mood of the composition. Link to comment
v 0 Posted November 26, 2005 Lou Ann! this is a lovely shot. I think sepia here works fantastically: gives a feeling of early 20ies of last century :) The composition is great too :) Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted November 26, 2005 I really like the composition and tones in this one. My only nits are that the sharpness seems a little soft and it needs a little more contrast. But that's just my opinion. Hope you don't mind my sharing this alternate crop. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 26, 2005 No, Ken - I'm thrilled that you shared your version! I played with the contrast, up and down. Every time I pulled it up, I lost the detail in the shutters. How did you do that? Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted November 26, 2005 I used a combination of the shadows/highlight function and levels in PS CS2. PS CS1 also has the shadow/highlights feature. To me, it is one of the most useful new functions CS added. To get to it, go to Image > Adjustments > Shadow/Highlights and then play with the sliders. BTW, I've added an original musical composition to my latest post that you commented on before I added the music. Hope you can check the music out too. Best regards. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted November 26, 2005 Lou Ann, I much prefer the sharpened one as it has more bounce. The first image looks abit flat to me. Nice catch. Going to San Francisco next week to do northern California for 2 weeks. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted November 27, 2005 Well done. The composition works and I like the Monochrome enhancement. PS: Thanks for all the time catching up. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 27, 2005 Nice bit of observation and the composition works well. I like the sharpened version except it has lost the textures of the walls. The sepia adds a nice touch of atmsophere. regards - Colin Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 28, 2005 Very well seen Lou Ann, and composed, I like a lot the decorated ( dots? ) curtain in the window and the flowers, adds a poetic point and soft touch to the rectangled window and frame.Sepia is well used here as was said already. Pnina Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Ken's got a point with the sharpness...on the other hand the slightly soft feel gives it even more the effect of being an aged photo. Nice work! Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted November 29, 2005 I like the composition of different elements. Ken did a fine job of further enhancing the image. Gotta love those light fixtures and windows! Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Wonderful shot! Great focus, dof, and exposure. The tone is gorgeous. Link to comment
whinterberger 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Great ambience , Lou Ann. Couldn't be anything but sepia ! I'm still in two minds about the Soft / Hard choice. One would think the subject calls for a soft rendition - but the hard version is attractive , too. Well , I suppose I just like the image - whichever way !! Mind you , I would have preferred just a little more 'breathing space' around the margins... Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 3, 2005 You know, Walter, the "breathing space" issue I would have to agree with. :-) But I had to play with the perspective SO much from the original shot that I had to chop off some of the more pleasing stuff from around the outside that would have made it easier to look at.... Thanks for your comments!! Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 3, 2005 The sepia tone, the dotted cutrains & the potted plant at the window takes me back to the 50s. Good use of the 2 side 'poles' as lamp. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted January 31, 2006 i like the decission to go to sepia tones. It suits well the subject. Link to comment
