clives 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Confused about the background. Looks like it is inside a box or against a screen (complete with shadow) ... like my drivers license, passport or Costco pictures. It has a most unnatural air about it. Sorry for the comments, but this is not a natural situation that one would expect of a wild bird. Clive Link to comment
oldowl 0 Posted November 22, 2005 This is not a wild bird. It is a resident of the World Bird Sanctuary near St Louis,MO. He fell out of a nest when he was hatched and injured his head so he was taken to WBS to be treated and raised. Because of the head injury he is constantly blinking his eyes (that why he is called Blinker). This injury is bad enough that he can't be released in the wild so he is used in educational programs. He was in a box when this picture was taken. Link to comment
clives 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Gary: If there is an outdoor area, see if the staff will move the bird (birds) outside on a sunny day. See here ... http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3764536 This bald eagle is in the same boat as blinker. Several birds at this rehab center are allowed outside and the photo ops are great. The staff are MOST cooperative. It is closed to the public until spring now, but I plan to go back next spring and and schmooze the staff and take more birds. A more natural background will help you sell more pictures. See what they staff will do for you. Tell them you will give them a picture or two. Clive Link to comment
brian f 0 Posted December 28, 2005 I agree, this just doesn't look natural and is not how wildlife is represented at best. Link to comment
kinseyjohn 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Gary, Great shot of Blinker but I have to agree with the other comments about the background. Joy said you might be coming for a visit soon, if so have her give me a call when you get in. I'd be more that happy to help you get some more natural shots of these guys by bringing them outside for you. Link to comment
kaushikphotography 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Nice and real take. I don't bother for the background or inside/ouside. Just love it cause, it seems to pose for you only. Great eye. Link to comment
oldowl 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Thank You for your comments. Maybe I should post this type of picture in the portrait section. Link to comment
