lgreene 0 Posted November 21, 2005 Cool shot-I don't remember many motion blur shots going to the left and the light background is fanatstic. Link to comment

jerry ting 1 Posted November 21, 2005 Thanks for stopping by. It's been a while since my last posts. Just got back from a business trip (to Cleveland) and can't wait to see my friends on PN. This was taken at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. I've been there many times but this is the first time that I took some shots at this location. Always fascinated by those colorful lights on the hallway and ceiling. Hope those travellers wouldn't mind being included in these shots. More to come... Link to comment
oldowl 0 Posted November 21, 2005 Very good. I like the blured person walking. The light is very interesting. Is this at an airport? If so, did you have any trouble with security? Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 21, 2005 Yes, it's an airport (Chicago O'Hare) and there is no problems to carry a camera with you in the airport. I actually had all my camera equipments (except for the tripod which is too awkward to be a carry-on) with me all the time during the flight. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 22, 2005 Hi Jerry, great image. I'm intrigued to know if you used a tripod, monopod or whether you relied on your lens's image stabilisation to get this shot? I'm also eager to know whether in these 'public' situations you make an effort to be discreet with your equipment or whether you don't worry about being spotted and just get the shot? Cheers, Ben Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 22, 2005 Hi Ben, thanks for stopping by. First of all let me give you the technical data: Nikon D1X with AFS Nikkor 24-120mm/f3.5-5.6 VR Lens. ISO 640, focal length 29mm at f9 1/6 sec. Hand-held. Yes, it's a 'public' situation and I took the shot with those people's awareness of me holding a big SLR shooting on something. I did not intentionally point my lens to any specific individual when I was shooting. And I also chose a very slow shutter speed to make those individual unrecognizable in the image. As a photographer I believe photogeneric opportunities exist in any moment and any place, so as long as there is no ethical issues and not against laws I will go for it. I hope you are satisfied with my answers. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 22, 2005 The colours & lights are without doubt wonderful, the slow shutter motiion effect is great too. Your spontaniety in photography is admirable, definitely:-) Welcome back from your trip. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted November 22, 2005 This is a fantastic image. . there is so much going on here and it comes together really well . . . I like the motion and the limited color palette and the geometry with all the repetitive shapes. . . a great capture. . . Link to comment
