amir_ahani 0 Posted November 20, 2005 this very nice picture , whye this is B/W , i think RGB mode for this picture it's very better to b/w , but in all it's very goog, have fun Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Attention Photonet Elves! Possible POW! Just outstanding in every way. I tried comparing it to your previous version but I don't see much difference except that some of the banding in the sky seems to be gone. There is still something false seeming in the sky, at least to my eye. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful picture. Great tones, great composition. I'd cut off body parts to be able to shoot one this good. Link to comment
smartpix 0 Posted November 20, 2005 Great pic, Aaron. I love the lines of the land that make it look a bit like the sea. Maybe the sky is a bit distracting but overall this works well. Thanks for sharing. Martin Link to comment
bstoch 0 Posted November 20, 2005 This is really nice Aaron! The composition is wonderful & while at 1st I thought the tones were just a tad weak, upon viewing it large I think they are perfect. Would really love to see this as a large print, it must rock! One small suggestion, clone the item on the left horizon Link to comment
jstyles 0 Posted November 21, 2005 I agree with Barry's suggestion. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the sky works for me. Outstanding image! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 21, 2005 Has to be seen large! Textures and shapes are especially nice I think B/W was the right choice. Pnina Link to comment
sjmurray 33,545 Posted November 21, 2005 Very nice composition and textures. Sky is really great. I do think the conversion from color to black and white left this image a little "greyish" overall for some reason. I'm wondering which technique you used for the conversion? Maybe the "yellow" wheat should be a little brighter? I know, its a matter of personal interpretation in the end. Link to comment
andrea.gerosa 0 Posted November 22, 2005 Very nice composition and I like the cloudy sky as well. May be I would like more contrast in it, but perhaps maybe black and whites are more evident in a larger version. Well done! Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted November 23, 2005 Thanks all for taking the time to look and comment! Amir: Curious comment... I chose B+W to accentuate the formal elements in the composition. Also, how would you know colour would be "better" without being there or seeing the transparency? The colour slide also works, but for very different reasons, and ones I'm not as interested in. Bill: Indeed the band is all that I dodged away. I don't know what would have caused such lighting in the first place. As to the notion of body parts, make sure it's something you don't really need - how else are you going to be able to take those wonderful IR shots??? Martin: glad you like it! Barry: In print, I find the bale on the left is one of the most endearing qualities of this photograph. It shows detail (such is the case with 4x5) and also adds a temporal element to the composition. We all appreciate for our own reasons, I'm just glad it interests you in some way. Julie, Pnina, thanks and good to hear from you. Steve, it is really hard getting the tones from my workspace to display correctly on the web. In print, the wheat is about zone 8 (higher in some places), but I know how you feel - it's something I keep working with in this shot. Andrea, "but perhaps maybe black and whites are more evident in a larger version" They are, because of the shorter inherent tonal range of paper. Roman, I do too ;) Henri, thank you - that means a lot. I admire your work. Link to comment
christiankiely 0 Posted November 23, 2005 Very nice leading lines... both curved and parallel in the same image. No doubt where the focal points are. Well done. Link to comment
dexdee 0 Posted November 23, 2005 All made by hands:) . Great lines, and the sky is perfect. DDD Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted November 25, 2005 I've seen his work before. He tends to go for more extreme contrast than I. thanks, Aaron Link to comment
James Kazan 17 Posted November 26, 2005 AaronExcellent juxtaposition of lines where the horizontal clouds meet the vertical lines of the field. Best regardsJim Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 2, 2005 Very nice. Nothing to add except that it looks like you've handled the tonal range nicely and are enjoying this 4X5 adventure. Well seen. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2006 Nicely done - I really like the geometric pattern, which is made even more prominant by the decision to go B&W - good call. Great sky too. Well done! Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Thanks Kathy, glad you like it. cheers, Aaron Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 27, 2006 So many good shots in this gallery, it would take my entire day to comment on them all. So I'll just let this one be a proxy for all the rest and say "absolute perfection" Regards, Jack Link to comment
