Attention Photonet Elves! Possible POW! Just outstanding in every way. I tried comparing it to your previous version but I don't see much difference except that some of the banding in the sky seems to be gone. There is still something false seeming in the sky, at least to my eye. Nonetheless, this is a beautiful picture. Great tones, great composition. I'd cut off body parts to be able to shoot one this good.

Great pic, Aaron. I love the lines of the land that make it look a bit like the sea. Maybe the sky is a bit distracting but overall this works well.

Thanks for sharing.

This is really nice Aaron! The composition is wonderful & while at 1st I thought the tones were just a tad weak, upon viewing it large I think they are perfect. Would really love to see this as a large print, it must rock! One small suggestion, clone the item on the left horizon

I agree with Barry's suggestion. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the sky works for me. Outstanding image!

Very nice composition and textures. Sky is really great. I do think the conversion from color to black and white left this image a little "greyish" overall for some reason. I'm wondering which technique you used for the conversion? Maybe the "yellow" wheat should be a little brighter? I know, its a matter of personal interpretation in the end.

Very nice composition and I like the cloudy sky as well. May be I would like more contrast in it, but perhaps maybe black and whites are more evident in a larger version.

Well done!

Thanks all for taking the time to look and comment!

Amir: Curious comment... I chose B+W to accentuate the formal elements in the composition. Also, how would you know colour would be "better" without being there or seeing the transparency? The colour slide also works, but for very different reasons, and ones I'm not as interested in.

Bill: Indeed the band is all that I dodged away. I don't know what would have caused such lighting in the first place. As to the notion of body parts, make sure it's something you don't really need - how else are you going to be able to take those wonderful IR shots???

Martin: glad you like it!

Barry: In print, I find the bale on the left is one of the most endearing qualities of this photograph. It shows detail (such is the case with 4x5) and also adds a temporal element to the composition. We all appreciate for our own reasons, I'm just glad it interests you in some way.

Julie, Pnina, thanks and good to hear from you.

Steve, it is really hard getting the tones from my workspace to display correctly on the web. In print, the wheat is about zone 8 (higher in some places), but I know how you feel - it's something I keep working with in this shot.

Andrea, "but perhaps maybe black and whites are more evident in a larger version" They are, because of the shorter inherent tonal range of paper.

Roman, I do too ;)

Henri, thank you - that means a lot. I admire your work.

Very nice. Nothing to add except that it looks like you've handled the tonal range nicely and are enjoying this 4X5 adventure. Well seen.

Nicely done - I really like the geometric pattern, which is made even more prominant by the decision to go B&W - good call. Great sky too. Well done!

So many good shots in this gallery, it would take my entire day to comment on them all. So I'll just let this one be a proxy for all the rest and say "absolute perfection" Regards, Jack
