ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 18, 2005 While his mom watched the schoolshow, the little boy had an eye for me:~) I appreciate your constructive critiques. Thank you, Ada:) Link to comment
wim.ipenburg 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Great, this is more than a portrait! A little constructive comment: Maybe you can darken and soften the skirt a bit. My eyes will go on to that place becouse it is too scharp and contrastfull. The face of the child must be catching my eye. The mother is yust fine in ballance as background. Wim. Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Thanks very much Wim for your constructive comment. I will do an attempt to darken the shirt a bit. Thanks again brother! Lieve Groetjes, Ada:~) PS, those big dark eyes reminds me of yours when you were such a little boy. I will search in the albums for an old picture of you to post in on PN, do you like that?;~) Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted November 19, 2005 Ada, good crop done here. I like the mother only as a "hint", and all the attention focused on the childs face. nice in B/W. Pnina Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Arthur, bedankt voor je bezoekje en je kort maar krachtig uitgesproken waardering;) Pnina, I'm really glad to hear from you that I did a good job. I always attached much value to your opinion, you know that. Greetings to you, Ada:) Link to comment

Landrum Kelly 64 Posted November 19, 2005 This is very nice, Ada. One wants to see the mother's face, too, but that does not take away from the shot. --Lannie Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted November 19, 2005 Great capture of his facial expression. I don't find the Mom's clothing as distracting as Wim. I do, though, find her shoulder distracting Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 19, 2005 Such a beautiful little boy, and wonderful skin detail with such soft texture. I'm inclined to agree with Wim, that if you can dodge the mom's wrap and forehead a bit...Another thing that will help keep our eyes on his face would be to whiten his eyes a little. I think you made a good choice to use black and white here - color would have detracted, I think! It's lovely work - thanks for sharing again! Kisses - Lee Link to comment

ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 19, 2005 I'm very happy with all the constructive comments. I only think that there is some misunderstanding concerning the content of Wim's comment. In the first posted version of this picture the shirt of the boy was a bit to harsh. (Wim's comment was related to that version!) I have deleted that version and have upload my restored version which looks much better now. For as far as I understand Wim is full content with the brightness of the headscarf of the mother in the background. I will do another attempt with the advices given by you, Ken and Lee. I'm very curious to the final result! Greetings from Holland to all of you! Ada:~) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 24, 2005 Caught at the right moment to give good eye contact. I like the small part of mum in the background. Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted November 25, 2005 Ellen and Colin thank you both for the kind words. Ellen, ik dacht al zoiets, het moet wel gloeiend heet zijn geweest op dat metaal. Wat zo'n beest al niet over heeft voor een kruimel brood;) Colin, some people don't like that small part of his mum there, but I like it too. IMO it adds something special to this picture. Yesterday I have given the mother the picture and she was very happy with it. She prefered the colourversion;) Link to comment
