pnital 36 Posted November 18, 2005 Was taken, but not in the very very begining....lol Thanks for commenting your impressions. Pnina Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Very nice. The sky doesn't quite fit with the land. The pier and sky takes us out of the frame. I had a little fun with the bottom and it adds a different feeling--land opposing sky and waves. Now the waves and cloud movement are aligned. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 18, 2005 David, thanks for taking the time, you made me smile.... nice possibility. Begining can happen in both sides...lol How did you do it technicaly? , nice to know.. Pnina Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted November 18, 2005 Mmm fluffy clouds, my favourite! It's good that you chose to shoot this to capture the detail of the waves too, pretty. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Pnina,I love the different blues.and certainly the lively sky. Very pretty and You seem to have it all for yourself, that gives a good feeling. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Hi Prina. I used a "feathered" selection of the entire bottom. The feather was about 5 pixels because this is a small photo. Then I mirrored just the selection. It works well on this photo because there is no change in brightness from left to right along the horizon. This was just the quick way to do it and you can see that the mirror wasn't perfect by the mis-alignment of the frame at the edge. I'm surprised you smiled and weren't in shock at what I'd done to your lovely photo! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 19, 2005 David, thanks, I smiled because I'm here to learn as well, and that was funny to see how easy you can change things with PS? nowadays. BUT you have a problem... on your hand now!! as it never happened to my work before, I Dont know what is your meaning of a mirror?, so please I would like to know step by step if you have the time....here or to my email... so I have warned you that you have a problem...lol I like your work BTW, PNina Link to comment
lgreene 0 Posted November 19, 2005 Pnina,We never know where you next image will be shot from-always a variety. I like the colors and movement you have here. David,....OK I need help here-besides mirroring it to the other direction what is the feathering you talk about? Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted November 19, 2005 I use Paintshop Pro, so there is probably a terminology issue here. Mirroring is simply reversing all the pixels and swapping them from left to right. This "inverts" the photo i.e. the pixels on the left end up on the right and vice versa. "Feathering" has to do with the selection tool I use. It is a gradual (soft) transition, rather than a sharp one. It's important because edges can look fake if you don't select them perfectly and then make a big change to selected area. Pixels within the feather are not changed as much as those within the main selection. Pixels at the outer edge of the feather are affected the least and those closest to the main selection change the most (of those within the feather). I sometimes use feather selections that are as large as 200 pixels when working with large photos. I hope this clarifies what I did :o) You probably know all this already from using Photoshop, but I don't use it. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 19, 2005 Thanks David, I use PS, but I have Paintshop Pro as well, even I use it less than PS, but I have found the mirror and did it!... well not as well yet, but learned something new... thanks Leann, I hope it helped you as well, and thanks to you too. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted November 19, 2005 I like both versions, the mirrored is more harmonic. MAybe I would push the tones of the sea a bit to the brighter side, looks a bit dark for my taste. I adjusted brightness/ contrast there and added a vignette light gradient for the sea. Just playing around, hope you dont mind ! Cheers Carsten Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 19, 2005 Carsten, we have simultaneously evaluated each other works.... You know I don't mind, I'm always open to know the immpression others get while looking at a given image, yours especially. I think that it is too bright for my taste. I liked the dark FG. and the only lighted waves in the BG. But thanks for your showing me what you think, your comments and comming, I'm glad to see you upload.Greetings, Pnina Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted November 23, 2005 The elelemts at their best, Pnina. I love both versions; in both the clouds look as if moving toward us ( and moving the waves, too, of course). Really a good capture. Link to comment
delp 0 Posted November 23, 2005 True we usually read from left to right here, hence the flipped image from David ... but I think this is already very good like this. Nice job Pnina ! Link to comment
