johncrosley 0 Posted November 15, 2005 'Tax-she' (Taxi!) shouts an imbiber in San Francisco's North Beach Night Club District in what may be Photo.net's blurriest photo ever. Your ratings and critiques are invited and most welcome. What do you think? jmoody 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Blurry? Probably not compared to what "he" was seeing :-) I like the feel very much (blur & tie-dye seem to go well together in my opinion). Composition seems nice...totally centered, but works well. As to helping "you" improve your photography...? Doubt I'm the right guy for that. Just thought I'd stop by & add my 2 cents. Nice work! johncrosley 0 Posted November 19, 2005 I like breaking the 'rules' -- centering and using a totally blurred photo when that just 'works', here for instance. I don't set out to 'break rules' just to make a capture and without regard to the limitations of my camera. So for this capture, I was panning this guy as he walked across the center of Columbus Ave. with a very long exposure necessitated by the lack of flash (I couldn't find mine and shot available light all night, for some pleasing effects). I believe you make do with what ya gots, and sometimes you get very welcome results; and it's sometimes better to tie one hand behind your back if you have bags full of equipment to force yourself to 'create' rather than produce technically perfect but sterile photos. Technically perfect, this ain't, but maybe it's got some life . . . At least I think viewers get the point . . . Thanks for the thoughtful comment. ;~)) John Link to comment
leepix 0 Posted November 26, 2005 I like this just for its own sweet softness of statement. It has a calm, deliberate energy to it. Its a great way to use motion. Nice work - I might add some sat, but thats all. cheers Lee Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted November 27, 2005 It might benefit from some saturation, but I tend not to manipulate my photos, especially a nighttime capture that already is pretty 'saturated' anyway. This does have its own 'sweet softness' doesn't it. As I state, it's probably the most blurry shot on Photo.net that doesn't have a string of 1/1s attached to it and actually is intended to be blurry. He was standing in mid-Columbus Avenue, apparently slightly drunk, (or stoned) or just a little dazed or demented) then walked into the traffic lanes for southbound traffic with his arm outstretched and I was photographing him and panning at the same time for this interesting 1/2 to one second capture with a V.R. lens, but even though the lens held the capture, it still kept the blur and didn't hold him as he had 'up and down' movement from walking. I'll never know whether I could have taken such a shot without a Vibration Reduction lens, but guess I probably could have. Thanks for the fine compliement. (By the way, I merged two folders of photos each taken in 'two hours' or so, so they're not ALL taken in two hours). More to come. John Link to comment
