cherlyn 1 Posted November 14, 2005 This shot was taken with my camera at waist level, during the harsh afternoon sun where the background was all blown out. Therefore the whiteish part on the cap & her shirt.I decide to clone all the background distractions & leave the overblown part that result in this image. She is actually crying for a pencil box that she wants, that we have brought to the village to give away to the children. Your feeback & guidance are most appreciated. Thanks for viewing. hiroya 0 Posted November 14, 2005 To me, this is not an appropriately exposed photo, but unlimitedly close to it. It's fun to imagine what has influenced to you during trip. I think you have changed. Oh, I wish I could too! Link to comment
julio_segura_carmona1 4 Posted November 14, 2005 Perfecto trabajo Cherlin,,,bello retrato,, color y composicion,,, 6/6, saludos. http://www.hectorbrandan.com/images/julio-carmona.gif Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Lovely portrait captured in a right moment. There seems to be a pink cast which feels a little disturbing to me. Perhaps a B&W version would make this photo look 'cleaner' and even more powerful. Regards, Alex Link to comment
mohsens 0 Posted November 15, 2005 The lighting is not well. but the subject and idea is very good. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 15, 2005 Cherlyn, the child image is sweet and nice, as well as her expression the washed out parts are disturbing, I have croped it and worked on it a little, the collar needs more work, but do you think it is better? Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 15, 2005 Thanks Pnina. Your suggestion of crop is very good. This is what I like about PN. I can find ways to save & improve on a otherwise damage image :-) I also find that I cannot be lazy & ignore the collar details just because it is too much work, ;-) sigh. So I have re-loaded a new image with Pnina's suggested crop. I also did up the collar outline, darken the photo a little by layer multiplication. Thanks all for your valuable feedback. I do learn a lot. Pls see below for the original loaded image. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted November 15, 2005 Cherlyn, I have corrected as well the white blob on her neck( behind) do it and it will be fine. looks good now. BTW, where is Chips disappeared? is he well? Pnina Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 15, 2005 I have loaded a B/W version which I did thought of but still chose the colour version to load . Hiroya, appreciated your feedback. That's how we learn from each other's feedback & suggestion. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 15, 2005 Thanks again Pnina. Correction done with the healing brush :-) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 15, 2005 The cropping improves it a lot. I can see her childish emotion so whatever happened to the hat etc you caught the essential part. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted November 15, 2005 Cherlyn,I agree with Colin, the cropping really brings you close to the emotion. That what speaks with this picture. I read the discussions, and like You mentioned,it is good to follow up for learning.I hate to give up the pink here, but I also liked the B&W,the link what was shown.Alix Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted November 16, 2005 As pretty as the pink is, the B&W is the most striking, to me. Why were you giving out pencil boxes? Were you with an organization? Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 16, 2005 No, Kim, we are not with organization. This is voluntary. We knew these villages were in our itinery & that the children & schools there will need stationery so we brought quite a quantity with us to give away. I do agree that the B/W have more impact. alexguerra 0 Posted November 16, 2005 Cherlyn, yes B&W here definitelly works much better for me, looks great. Cheers! Alex Link to comment
