I liked the way they were threading with the empty space on a side andthe shadows of the late hour on the other...at 3311m a.s.l.

Your comments and criticisms on this and any of my mountain shots aremuch welcome!

P.S. If you like this shot, you will also like thisother view.

Great picture. About your question on the comopsition - may be i could be croped a liotle in the left side, to allow the line better to "compete" with the shadows on the right - but i dont know.

Marco, M., Lars, thanks for your comments.

Marco, I agree that the wider picture gives a better idea of the place. What I liked here was the way the shadows to the right were graphical, protruding towards the walkers.

Lars, I had thought a bit about removing part of the scene to the left, but I found pleasent the way the landscape falled away to the top-left corner and the texture to the bottom right, both compensating graphically (and justifying from an alpine point of view) the trajectory of the walk.

I like that one Salvatore,as the whole image can be read by the lines on the surface ,and I think that your decision not to crop is the right one. The shadows and the lower lines in the fg are directing the eye to the Lhs, and are counter balancing the two prominent ones.

Looking at the bg. the lines on the surface are as well directed to the Lhs. The scale of people gives the viewer an understanding of the hights it was photographed from.

Through your work I experience something that I will not in reality...but it is interesting and better than nothing... Pnina

no, it is not balanced. You exxagerate in more than one way. By the scenery and the smallness of the people we see it must be a really big place. But the really grand things must be the mountains - and you show only shadows of 'em and you push the shadows to the edge of the picture. Courageous and impressive.

Pnina, thanks for your comment. Actually the non-man-made lines are crevasses, just hidden by a bit of fresher snow, ready to swallow the ignare walker. As for showing non-common places, as from my bio, this is why I got started in photography altogether, so I'm glad it somehow works.

Andrea, I more or less thought along the way you see this picture when I took it. While these people were still far from my observation place, I got the first picture, and then it occurred to me to try something more graphical with less direct reference to the mountains. Next season, I have to try some more of these.

Love the texture... and the greys and black. My first thought was to crop the left to improve the balance, but that would mean the area that's left on the... eh... left, would be kinda blank and uninteresting. I like how the shadows work with the black rock, as well.
