Guest Guest Posted July 20, 2006 The vertical pano crop and the "zen" title makes me think of oriental hanging scrolls, and indeed the intertwined branches do call to mind certain styles of Chinese painting. I like your creative idea here: I, along with almost everyone else, would have cropped just above the patch of sky over the buildings. Your crop shifts the theme of the image to something else altogether -- something that is indeed zen-like. (Or so it seems to this one-time candidate for the sangha, who wears long sleeves to avoid questions about the burn marks on his arm....) Link to comment
blowingsky 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Thanks Chris, that is quite a good insight. I was trying to suggest the arabesque reflections we sometimes engage in when exteriorized from everyday mechanics. It's intended to portray a human being returning to his native state of spiritual being. How much of this is only in my mind and not in the print? That is the question where the value of this piece hangs. I have many friends that like this image, but just for the quiet serenity and the graceful branches. You are the first person who accepted my title and sees a relevance. Link to comment
