Venice Beach Hot Dog Stand

I can't read the note and feel like it might be relevant to the story, but what I see in any case is a bunch of interesting contradictions - the hot dog stand should be an inviting place, and the flag and open window and bright colours and mustard jars or whatever would make one think it was, and yet there is a note in place of a person at the window, making it look somewhat abandoned, and the no parking sign reinforces the unwelcomeness... leaving me feeling that all is not well.
