Warm coffee, cold day, Billie Holiday, sweater

Trying my hand at "studio" type stuff, any thoughts? This is on my

living room floor with window light only (tripod, RAW, around 15

seconds if I remember right). Didn't think black and white would work

as well since it's almost that way anyway & it would lose some of the

color of the coffee. Took lots of other angles and versions, so feel

free to suggest whatever. Thanks for any ratings etc..

Thanks, I was curious about the color but decided that it added a little "authenticity" to the shot (yep, that's reeeal coffee. Drank it right after :-)

Great shot, simplistic and very original! I agree that without the colour of the coffee wouldn't work out so well. I got intrigued though by the colour of your living room floor... spooky!

Well, I did take this shot around Halloween so I figured my inky-black floor would work well! :-) actually, it's a black sweatsuit of my wifes (the pants if I remember correctly)

I love the composition and the lighting is excellent.

I drink black coffee and love it first thing in the morning. Your photograph captures the entire range of my vast feelings for the subject without leaving anything out, and yet, it is stripped down to the essentials. Just talking about it is too much. Very rare eye you have!

Jeff, I come back to this image now and then just to perk up and relax. There are not a lot of photographs on Pnet that use every element in the frame for the overall effect like this one does. Those that don't understand the power of simplicity in this shot will simply have it acting upon them without their knowledge.

I agree with Peter. Great shot. Coffee into infinity. Coffee as the one thing keeping you out of the abyss. And a nice composition, too.

Composition and light are excellent. Good series...I'll watch it grow.
