Jack: I really thank you for your input on this image. Even if I like it a lot, I have not post this image for critique because it is sometimes hard for me to expose my friends for critiques (another reason why I appreciate your kind words). On the other hand, most of the time I simply ignore this feeling... I could tell you what I like about this image (other than the memories that it brings me) but the truth is that I am very bad at making people pose for me. I did not had anything about composition in mind when I took this. Any attempt to explain it would be just an excuse ;-). Even some of the pictures that do not look like that at all are simple candid shots.
What I mean to say, is that I appreciate all of your comments. I have visit your portfolio and found a lot of intersting images there. You are welcome to come back whenever you feel like it, I would love to read more comments from somebody with a good eye for details such as yours.
What strikes me about this picture, other than it captures a distinct moment very well, is what it says about the photographer. This picture is the product of a photographer who is so thoroughly confident in his own art that he can safely disregard the limitations imposed by rote acceptance of current photographic axioms and frame the picture according to his own artistic vision. To me, this is not the stance of the rebel but of the realized individual.
