Door to Acropolis

Somehow a classical - the principle of the stone door, with lintels

and piers visualised as I knew it from text books of the antique

helenic civilisation.

This is a picture taken from the entrance to the Acropolis, which was

in renovation (particularly the Propilaeas, the Nikeapteros and the

Parthenon) at the end of August 2005.

Hello Maria, I have enjoyed your photos of Greece, particularly the Acropolis. I think this is the one I like best. The parallel lines formed by the door and columns make a nice mix with the strong horizontals. The pink and red make a nice point of interest.

It would have been nice to see a closer look at the caryatids in some of the other shots, but you have some nice angles in your shots.

I must admit I am being now more silent than in the first half of the year - first because I subscribed and I don't have to contribute so much in order to maintain my quota ;) and second because I have more to do professionally ...

I am afraid I have no shot with a closer look to the caryatides, but, as I found out in the museum, the originals are in the museum under glas and in the temple are replicas.

But I hope to go there again ...

I still cannot decide which country I like more, if Greece or Portugal, it seems to be every time the last I have visited out of them ;)

I started now to upload Portugal (well, what I have digitally), and will in the meantime some last shots of Greece (aerial views, that is).
