Peter, this is very nice. Is there any chance you could have put the sun a little less centered? Beautiful scenery. All the best.

Dear all,

Thanks for looking and for enjoying this shot, your comments are very welcome. Unfortunately, for one particular clown my work always rates a 3/3.

Jamie, I could have cropped the shot to give the sun a little to the side, but I'm not sure the shadows from the fence would look quite right if they were off to one side. Here is the full frame.

Best wishes. Peter

Peter, a great early morning atmosphere! It is always best to put the sun in the middle of the shot if the lens is tending to flare. If necessary crop it later to make it less centred. Personally I am happy with it in the middle. The dimly seen fence line is very good.

Hi Pete.

I agree with Colin. This is a spectacular image full of brooding atmosphere. For me it is the fence protruding from out of the mist that makes this photograph - this adds vital foreground detail to what otherwise would just have been a nice sunrise!

Well done for being up so early, and on holiday too!

Regards, Nick.

Hi Pete, I must say that I prefer the full frame than this croping, as much for the colours than for the composition, with the trees which made a frame in the frame. The tones of your croped version are more those of a sunset than a morning. Regards, Henri

Hello Henri, thanks for looking and for your critique. I agree that the shot with the trees is more satisfying than this one, but those tree settings don't seem very popular here, so I was presenting something for a specific audience. As for the colours, they are about the same hue as the two Gartempe shots in this folder.

Very best wishes. Peter
