ljk 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Tired pachyderm, waiting for a fairgoer to climb aboard.... Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Andrea...you can hardly call it skin, so thick. More a hide. Julio...gracias. You look for form, too. Daily...the country of origin is unknown to me, but this guy is now making the rounds of fairs and maybe circus's. Arthur...the details can say so much. Thank you. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Patterns, patterns everywhere and you see them. Love the shot. Link to comment
magdalenagierszewska 0 Posted November 5, 2005 very nice. I like the composition. And colors. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Howard...thanks! I don't know why my eye goes where it does, but my camera lens follows! Magdalena...thank you for your visit! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 5, 2005 Simple compositions are often the best. Here is a prime example. Well spotted and well taken. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Thanks, David! I think the simplicity emphsises the textures. I am an interior designer, and I know in a monochromatic color scheme, texture plays a very important role. Sarita...good to see you even if it's only on the PN pages...(smile) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 5, 2005 This one is definitely all about tones and textures! Simple and effective, Linda. Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted November 6, 2005 I'm flattered you'd remembered my "Well Used" image and yes they are both very similar...lot's of graphic detail and textures. Yours has wonderful detail and the limited color palette looks almost like a toned B&W. And as always you do such a good job with the framing. Knowing what the subject here is I can almost feel his tiredness in patiently packing around all those people, I'm glad I can't see the whole critter. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 6, 2005 Your concentration on that small area distills the idea of the strength of the beast and the weight it is carrying. Great! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted November 6, 2005 A wonderful complement of color and texture. . . Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 6, 2005 Thanks, Kim....good to see you. Susan...you are right about "the patient critter"...I took a shot of his eye, too, but the sadness there (real or not) is too much for me. Colin...I'm glad you perceived my intent. Donna...hello, and thanks! Link to comment
amélie 0 Posted November 6, 2005 Marvellous shot, I too like the monochromatic look of this Linda, excellent detail. I can just imagine the eye.:((( Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted November 7, 2005 Incredible details, Linda. You can feel the thickness just watching. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 7, 2005 Yes, Amelie...there was an almost human quality to it. Paula...the thickness and texture of that hide is amazing. Thanks! Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted November 7, 2005 And of course, the added extra detail of focusing in on the belt & buckle... the only way to safely "pack" a "derm" :-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 7, 2005 Wow, now that is texcture at it's best. The two close crops of animals you have posted recently are excellent, I would have shot the entire beast and missed this wonderful composition. Great stuff. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted November 8, 2005 Jeff....perfect. Just perfect:-) Ben...just have to be careful sometimes...I can ignore the forest for the trees. But thanks. Link to comment
