dejan_nikic 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Well usually if you do something in a distance ISO800 will do. Notice how a guy in front shows a lot more graininess compared to the background building. I've shot a bunch of shots on ISO 800 at night on my D70 and they all come out pretty decent, but if I shoot on 400 and compare the two the difference is clearly visible, but to the eye ISO 800 by itself looks good. alecee 0 Posted November 3, 2005 Dejan, I'm just testing the camera with some grab shots. Of course downsizing the large file decrease the noise too. But I don't think I'll be able to get this with the D70 with one shot as the Merlion highlights will be overexposed. The D2X CMOS did a good job on exposure. Strange you don't have any images to show. Link to comment
dejan_nikic 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Because of you I had to acctually organize some photos :). Went through 500 photos just now and found the one shown bellow. It was shot at ISO 800 f1.8 and 1/60. Noise is apparent in the darker areas, but in the lighter ones like the players it's not. Although appearance of the noise is not that big assuming how dark it was. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Dejan, I'm sure with 500 images you can show a better photo then the bland baseball image. Overall, it's too dark and the white letters are too overpowering to tell if the exposure is correct. Sorry, you have give an example with more latitude in your exposure control! Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 4, 2005 Wow, ISO 800? Excellent quality I may say. I've been suffering the 'almost' unbearable noisy problem from the D1X for most of my night shots. Time to upgrade I guess. As for this picture, great comp and color tones. What's your WB setting? Auto? Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 4, 2005 Thanks Jerry. Yes it's on auto white balance but I'm still trying to understand the camera's characteristics. Link to comment
jerry ting 1 Posted November 4, 2005 Great! It seems to me the color tone is quite accurate. Have fun with your new toy. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted November 5, 2005 A very nice shot. I am watching and learning from the comments on the new camera...I am just a little jealous too! I know you will be putting it to good use! Link to comment
