jam50 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Jake, this has all sorts of good things going on! Tasty sky colors with a really wild skyline, and yes, that fog does work nicely. Nice contrst between the dark, moody mountains and the happy green foreground. Now, the mountains in the distance all seem to be bunched up on the left along with the clouds and for me that makes the left side visually "heavy" with not a lot on the right to balance it out. I'm also assuming you didn't pan left more because of exposure issues with the sun, but I'm curious what that might look like. Still a great shot. Cheers, James Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted November 5, 2005 Hello Jake, this is a splendid shot. The lurid cloud colours are wonderful and the contrast from neat farmland to mountains is very dramatic. Link to comment
jc-photography 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Thank you Rita, James and Peter. James, an extra thankyou for the constructive critique. Your absolutely right about not panning any further left, unfortunately I cannot afford grads at present so use multiple exposures which works to an extent but I can't seem to blend massive differences in dynamic range. The clouds were moving fairly fast towards the right of the frame but the light was fading fast so I couldn't wait, the farm house would have balanced things a little better had it been further to the right. I'm only new to photography and I've found that's just the way it goes sometimes. Never mentioned it in the details but this is shot with the Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II and is two rows of six vertical frames stitched manually in photoshop. Again, it's lovely to get feedback and I value your opinion. Link to comment
jam50 0 Posted November 5, 2005 Wow, excellent job on the stitchery! And yes, sometimes we have to work with what we have or to take what we can before all opportunity is lost. Link to comment

jc-photography 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Thanks James, Linda and Craig. Craig- I shouldn't use the word new, inexperienced probably would have been a more honest statement. I got my first camera a Fuji S3500 back in February and went on to purchase my first DSLR in April. Thanks for the comments, and stick with photoshop. Once you get the hang of the tools you'll blitz it. One of the most helpful websites I have come across is Michael Reichmann's Luminous Landscape. He's got some great tutorials and loads of information. Check out www.luminous-landscape.com Link to comment
