Under the shadow

Very nice. I like it. Good idea to make it into a black and white!

This works very well for me, i like this kind of street scenery. Streetlamp and its shadow make a great composition, very good !

The perfect balance of the objects in the picture. While the central lamp catches our attention at first sight, it's the secondary elements that enrich the picture (people and shadows), all of them very well placed in the shot. The choice of b/w is highly successful here, since I can imagine that the harsh light you were having resulted in an extremely pale photo. Excellent.

Alexandre what a great shot. I would have to agree with all the above comments. Even so I decided to try a crop option just to see for myself, but I don't think it has worked as well as your original. Attached here for your consideration. Cheers Nova :)

Sigfrid, yes it was not easy to balance exposure here, the wall was under bright direct sunlight. I feel good to know you think it worked out well!

 

Nova, thanks for your suggestion; I thought about it before, but then I thought it was looking too narrow though it looks good without that wall corner.

Sometimes you can be dumbfounded by the beauty of something from what you had never expect that it could be so beautiful. And this is such a moment; the shadow of the lamppost! It is a real decoration and an enrichment for the peaceful scene, which is very well captured by you, Alex!

A near classic photograph. Congratulation! Only lack of symmetry / balance is the factor, which could only have been rectified by proper positioning, I belive.
