The baseball season is winding down in America, but it continues year-

round on this bar exterior in San Francisco, which serves as a

backdrop for this man and woman engaged in 'street' conversation.

your raings and critiques are invited and most welcome. (If you rate

harshly or very critically, please submit a helpful and constructive

comment/Please share your superior knowledge to help improve my

photography.) Thanks! Enjoy! John

The 'street photography' minor gods smiled on me when I spied this scene. I had to wait around a while to get this one.

Plus there was a 'street guy' (bum) who I had photographed with a telephoto lens minutes before, who followed my car and was demanding to know if I was police, and if not, what the hell did I have the nerve to take his photo, yelling into my driver side car window, and getting more belligerant by the moment, as I was waiting or this scene to unfold. It took nerves of steel with one hand to be dialing 911, threatening the guy with arrest (and probable parole violation) and to keep my eye on this scene (mostly).

Street photography has its challenges.

Thanks for the comment.

This photo was taken during 'two hours in San Francisco' from which I made a folder, but I did not post it there, preferring to post it in my single photo folder. There is a similar, interesting photo in that folder, but obviously to me now, not quite as good.

I have made it a personal quest to learn how to incorporate the background into my photography, and I have a 'Presentation' on just that subject. If you haven't looked at it, you might give it a glance. Surely this photo will end up in that Presentation when I finish it.

Well John, there are differences from the other one....First you see better the players in the background which are in contrast to the unmoveing two.., conversation is in part more present, why in part? because she looks like talking to him, he does not look at her and looks stright ahead of him...( board of conversation? )also, he is better composed imo in this one, and all 3 of them( with the player) are forming a diagonal, that brings interest and tention to the "happy houre..." This photo essentially is unmanipulated film shot from an F-5 and an 80~200 from a stationary car through the windows, while stopped across the street.

It has had no 'sharpening', contrast adjustment, etc., and is a machine scan of film to TIFF files straight from a photo processor (he scans them to TIFF on his machine, a very long process that completely eats up his computer processor power on his Noritsu processor).

With selection and Photoshop work, this might be really outstanding, as I now value the worth of this photo, even more -- to begin with I might tone down the reflections somewhat, maybe even using the shadow/highlight filter in Photoshop CS2, which didn't exist when this photo was posted. I'd also sharpen it a bit and work on the grain with Photoshop filters, just to see what happened as this is ISO 400 film, whatever I had in my bag, Fuji Press, I think.
