This is 'Little Celeste' a very happy, healthy and nice child who

understands that when I appear with a camera, she might get her photo

taken. She likes to see it on my digital readout screen. Your

ratings and critiques are invited and most welcome. (If you harshly

or very negatively, please submit a helpful and constructive

comment/Please share your superior knowledge to help improve my

photography). Thanks! Enjoy! John

This really brings back memories of going to the barbers as a child, my mum would use whatever means she could to bribe me into not fidgeting. The thing which immediately identified this as a barbers/hairdressers was the lovely rich maroon leather of the seat, you've caught that really well and wisely kept this shot in colour.

I can hear Radio 4 playing even now.

This is a nice shot of a very pretty little girl (even if she is hiding) in an everyday environment that I suspect for most encourages strong feelings of nostalgia. Well done.

It's 'nostalgia' like that that can propel a photo to a higher plane, and that's often unexpected. For instance, despite few and low rates, this photo got over 3600 views the first night on display. Who would have guessed?

As a photographer, I take what I think is interesting and am often surprised by the like and/or dislike of members (and the conundrums where few raters are moved enough to rate, yet a photo starts to get high viewership -- same with my three slumped travelers in an airport in an eastern European country.

Addendum: October 31. This photo has 8 ratings with an average in the mid 4s for both aesthetics and originality, yet somehow it has garnered just under 15,000 views since posting, which for a posted photo of mine is extremely high (I don't return ratings (mate rate) or rate others' photos much. I do comment thoroughly when I do, as my e-mail would show, often with gratitude from critiqued photographers.)

This 'viewership' for this photo shows that 'ratings' do not always equal popularity' in terms of most views, I think and position on the top-rated list, does not always condemn a photo to the bottom in viewership

It's Feb. 23, and this photo now has 31,000 views and 10 ratings, and still the ratings are relatively low and there are relatively few of them -- not enough to place this photo on my most frequently-viewed photo gallery, yet it has climbed into one of my most frequently-viewed photos by itself without being in any 'gallery' at all, click by click, page view by page view.

Interesting.

This photo must have a magnetic power that defies rating.

;~))
