I made this image recently after taking a workshop group to this location the morning

before and witnessing the incredible glow of fill light from yellow aspen leaves over my left

shoulder that were illuminated just as the sun peaked over the rim of the canyon. The few

frames I exposed in the earlier bluish shadow light pale in comparison, and within sixty

seconds, direct sunlight was illuminating the canopy at the top of my composition,

radically increasing the contrast and obliterating the scene.

Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated.

When I first saw this thumbnail, I didnt want to like it. I think that I just don't generally find an object, in the foreground, that is cut off at both ends serves any purpose but to divide the photo into disjointed pieces. But for some reason, maybe the light color, this one actually works--whatever it is, you have pulled off something I have rarely seen done successfully.
