There is a lot going on within this image. Personally, I was struck

by how people pay attention to different things. Please spend a few

minutes looking at this one and then rate and comment as you see

fit.

howard, this is very entertaining to me, and there is a symmetry to the composition that brings some structure to it. i can see why you found it worthwhile easily.

Well , it looks that most adults are aware of the camera, while the children are in their own world...Good observation and group composition, Howard. Pnina

Yes, there is indeed a lot to look at here. One could of course start getting really deep and read a whole lot of things into it like the uniqueness within each of us, the togetherness of the human race and so on. However, to me, it's really simple - it's a group of people coming together for a common cause (like a school sports event) who are just out to have a good time and who are really enjoying themselves. That they're having a good time comes through really strongly in the shot. Everyone also looks really quite unfazed by you taking the shot Howard. To me there is no 'artiness' in the shot - it's just a good, honest slice-of-life portrayal. One last comment - you could almost crop in on each individual face and it would be an interesting shot on its own.

Fantastic.

IMO, it really is difficult to make group shot like this aesthetically pleasing, but you did it. It probably has something to do with the nature of the gathering, the people, composition, agreeable lighting, and your post-process control of shadow & highlight detail. You're a natural at people pix!

What a wonderful conglomeration of facial expressions. But the one that draws my attention the most is the little girl on the lower left. Terrific capture!

This makes me a little bit scared when it comes to thinking about my classes. :-) I wonder if my students are all thinking about and looking at different things. :-D You've brought our attention to a very interesting fact!
