Mites On A Fly

Nice. Was the fly dead or druged. I ask because you have good DOF and I would think a small fstop would have been needed. (i.e.) Slow shutter.

None of the insects I have ever shot or ever will shoot are dead or drugged. F16-1/160 second with a shot from the 580EX flash and a much larger crop than I would've liked. This one was alive and well with 5 other mites on his other side. I have a shot showing that while he was blowing a bubble, but the angle isn't real pleasing. I'll probably put it up in a day or two anyway. Thanks for taking the time, Vince.

A fascinating shot, and a unique subject. This photo seems so entirely alien, I have a hard time believing it's real.
