Beautiful photo ! Is this a Nymphalis urticae ? We have a similar species here in quebec, Nymphalis milberti. Nice shot and thank you for your comment on my photo.

It's a "Kleine vos" (small fox) (Aglais urticae)

Aparently there is also a version with white/black/white/black/white/black on the wings. I'm not an experd. Probably the male/female version like the above picture only in a much less favourable setting ;-) (as usual)
