screeny 0 Posted October 13, 2005 Well I'm not a portrait kind of photographer, basically because I have no clue how to shoot a good portrait. This one is 'apart" soem how the composition is rateher weird lot's of open space which is I guess rather unusuall for a portrait. The colors..well I never know how to get human skin colors right even using "special" film does not satisfy me, so in general I'm prefer B&W for photographing people. Not for artistic reasons but because I run away for the skintone problem :). however in this case the cheeky pink tone contrast great with the blue bacgorund. Speaking of, I don't know whether I like the redish strreak in the background, a background with different shades of blue is ok I guess but addng another color makes it all too much too look t. Then again , like said it a rather dfferent image, and alltogether: i think one Loves it or hates it. I tend to the loving side but not sure yet :) Link to comment
jana 1 Posted October 13, 2005 Hello Wim, The composition, style and the features of the face of this girl remind me of the old "socialst-communist" propaganda photographs (so called socialist realismus) of the 50- ties, 60-ties. I imagine her having the soviet flag in her right hand, marching, full of positive energy to build our communist future. But still - a very good photograph. cheers Jana Link to comment

Mijn complimenten Wim!
