alexguerra 0 Posted October 27, 2005 Hi Jeff! While browsing through your portfolio I immediately recognized this place. My father is from Castelo de Vide and this is the road that connects his town to Marvao. Many times I passed here either by car or on my bike :) All this region is very beautiful and I regret that I haven't been there yet since I got more into photography. Still, I have some photos from Marvao in my 'places' folder, perhaps you'll recognize them. Thanks for the memories! Your photo really touched me. Best regards, Alex Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted October 27, 2005 It's funny, to anyone else your comment might seem strange, but I remembered this spot from a time probably 3 years earlier when my wife & I had driven through on our way north. There might be other places in Portugal that are similar, but this one seems to stick out as being unique. Did you also see my photo of the flowery field with the trees off in the distance? That field is just to the left of these trees & I was lucky to be able to pull over to shoot it. This is indeed a beautiful part of the world & I look forward to visiting it again! Muito obrigado for your comments! Jeff Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Took a few separate versions to play with less DOF than this one. Does this work the way it is? Too much traffic to try the version that Alexandre got, but maybe next time. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are always appreciated. Thanks in advance Link to comment
robidooo 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Now this is strange! I like a lot the way the 3 white lines are converging. I think the effect would have been even better if you were placed directly in the middle of the street. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Thanks Stephane. If you check out Alexandre Guerra's work, you'll see that exact idea & it works great. I don't know if he used a tripod, but I'm so slow on setting up and getting everything more or less right that'd I'd never have made it back to submit this shot (Portuguese drivers aren't exactly known for giving the right-of-way to pedestrians in the middle of the road trying to shoot pictures if you know what I mean :-) ) Thanks again for stopping by Link to comment
doug bowles 0 Posted March 31, 2006 I like your other one (B&W taken in the middle of the road) much better than this one. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted March 31, 2006 D'oh! Not mine. Wish it was, but the two or three I shot here look just like this. This was shot about a year ago & the other version you like made me realize that I'd never submitted this. Guess I should've either done it lots sooner or waited lots longer. Oh well. Thanks for the visit anyway Link to comment
doug bowles 0 Posted April 1, 2006 Actually, it was a photo by Alexandre Guerra that I was mistook for one of yours - how ironic that he's posted just a few paragraphs above! It never occurred to me that the two photographers would post similar images so closely together. Link to comment
