Autumn Waterfall Abstract

Please open larger file before rating/critiquing! Also used a circular Polarizer. No color adjustments- just some dodging and burning to get closer to the slide.

Wow! Out of your exceptional portfolio I like this one best. The composition, the colour, the texture of the water, all outstanding. Great work! You are an inspiration to any aspiring photographer.

Wow. I love it. It's shots like these that inspire me to walk outside and shoot for days to try to find equivalent photo ops. I wish I was there first.

Chris,

Waterfalls and Autumn leaves fall only slightly behind kittens and rainbows in the tacky clichés race, which makes this shot even more remarkable. It's a beautiful shot, no doubt, but working with such cliché subjects, and still managing to make a surprising and fresh photo out of them is quite an achievement. Respect.

I nearly leapt right out of my chair when I saw this one!! This has to be the absolute best shot of falling water combined no less...with great fall reflections... I gave it a 10 with no thinking... I love the s curve.. the exposure and totally everything about this shot is perfection! Wow!

Texture, color, composition, mood...it has it all.

Plus it's dead sharp and nicely blurred where ought to be.

Makes you want to reach out and touch it.

This is one of my favorites out of your porfolio Chris. The water and colors are about perfect. I do keep wishing the bottom of the frame had more water in it like the wider version to give it more follow through if you will. Other than that, great nature shot.

A superb photograph - absolutely stunning! It has to be the same location similarly shot by Ken Cravillion (See www.topphotos.net featured websites).

Well, I'll be dipped- that IS the same spot! I didn't realize this spot was so popular.... I just happened by it on the way home from a busted Aurora Borealis excursion in Michigan. Thanks for the link.

Simple scene captured beautifully. I love the reflection of the autumn leaves, the reflection on the water and the flow of the waterfall.

How did you get the water to look so smooth while the waterfall looks like it's flowing?

(You must be getting embarassed at all the compliments - but you put so many similar shots to shame!)

I like this better than the broader view. I understand the post above about having a little more breathing room below the RHS falls, so maybe a square cropping would have been stronger (if this was in fact cropped from the other Autumn Waterfall). The form of these rocks - the serpentine shape of reflected leaves - is just lovely.
