leepix 0 Posted October 2, 2005 This is an experiment. I placed the doll in the scene to create a child-like hope in a grim setting. comments welcome. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted October 2, 2005 One can only wonder at the scene that existed before you placed the 'doll' there. This is a fantastically complex photo, which may defy analysis except on an emotional or 'gut' level. It's obviously about despair and imprisonment, but I'd be interested in the 'symbolism' of all the elements, if there indeed is any. (Not every element in every interesting photograph has to 'mean something', of course). Usually, I decry selective saturation, but in this case it works, in part because it's not too heavy-handed; mute colors of the doll and her clothes work well with the scene. This is not the usual 'stuff' of PN exhibition, and if you produced an entire work of this sort, it might alone be your oeuvre for which you would be known. Thoughtful, interesting work. leepix 0 Posted October 2, 2005 John, I have to thank you -once again-for your insightful menaderings. I have been struggling with how best to portray certain emotional messages with photography. I have been using this doll a lot lately. - this was my first 'struggle' to evoke something deeper. (clumsy though it may be) I am encouraged to continue along this path until I get at al the demons and conflicts us mortals are heir to. Thanks again for your energy, you are truly unique. pnital 36 Posted October 3, 2005 Lee, interesting composition that evoks many thoughts and feelings. I will try to tell you what I think. The doll for me is young innocent age, the man behind her is an older man, both of them together are human life, from childhood to maturity. The barbed fence and the legs behind are the painfull experiences of us as human, and the end of life we are experiencing in a life story. I think that it is well composed.6/7 ( but you were ahead of me with a 7....)Pnina Link to comment
stevespencer 0 Posted October 3, 2005 I like this too, and agree with the above comments. I won't try to analyze. My insights would probably not be any more incisive than those already made, and you explained it anyway. The facial expression of that doll is unique, and well suited for your indended projects. I really like the bleak background. This is cerebral stuff, and the material of which dreams are woven. Great job. Makes me think. -s Link to comment
quebin 0 Posted October 3, 2005 I find myself coming back to view this over and over and I cannot add anything else to above comments other than the originality of this composition inspires me in attempting to create thought-provoking work such as this. Excellent! Link to comment

laura2 0 Posted October 30, 2009 Every war, every conflict -- anyone with a conscience/brain cells/a pulse should be forced to look at this shot before they engage in their conflict. Beautiful composition...I feel cold just looking at it. A+++ Link to comment
