squirrelman 0 Posted September 30, 2005 Hi Gregory. Flowers are actually pretty tough to photograph and make them look as interesting and beautiful as they are in person. This one is rather static looking (too centered) and the lighting is mostly on the shadowy side, which really reduces the impact. Might have worked better shooting closer and just the upper areas that were better illuminated. Link to comment
gregverena 339 Posted September 30, 2005 Michael, thanks for your critique. I value your views, although, I don't totally agree. The uniqueness of this bloom is the diversity in color of the swirls of petals as they unfold. I find the "feelers" sticking out antenna like also intriguing. The sun reflected off many different layers of the bloom, enriching its aspect.i know the "centered" thing but this fellow seems to demand centerstage. Note, I'm talking about the bloom, not necessarily anything I did photo-wise. Checked out your portfolio and enjoyed it. Also noticed several "centered" blooms :) thanks again. the beauty of this site is the diverse opinions one is exposed to. Also, this flower tends to shrivel a bit when in full sunlight.
