Not sure I can do justice in words as to what I like here... limbo. Lost souls facing that monolith with the shining light behind, queuing up to wait an eternity for the decision... will the darkness take them, or can they avoid the gaze and escape into the light?

And somewhere, on a hospital bed, lies the father, his daughter holding his hand, bringing him back from the brink. It's not his time, yet.

I particularly like the framing of the blacks with the shapes of grey on the right.

The man looking towards us? Well, could be any number of people. If anything, the title does the composition a diservice. Its far to simplistic and obvious for a photo where all sorts of things can be read into it.
