ljk 0 Posted September 30, 2005 This sculpture, a polished stainless steel "jelly bean" is in Millennium Park. So varied in its effect as you walk around it, that it invites photographic exploration... Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted September 30, 2005 And you are right it does invite exploration. Good composition and you caught the reflection of a good portion of Michigan Av. on it. Great colors and framing. Good shot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2005 Very good exploration! reflects are outstanding. I like this capture of an attack of sci-fi blob! : ) Link to comment

ljk 0 Posted September 30, 2005 Thanks, all...Roger and I had so much fun with this. I am a sucker for any kind of reflections, and this gave me so much to work with. I'll upload some others, maybe :-) Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted September 30, 2005 or 'The Whale that Lived in Lake Michigan until Tempted out by Bright Lights'? Great use of night lighting. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 30, 2005 Looks like a wave of a whale lighted with city lights... very nicely explored Linda. Pnina Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted October 1, 2005 Excellent night shot, Linda. I think it needs to be retitled " The whale that ate Chicago" . . . . Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted October 1, 2005 What a shot, Linda.... I, too, thought of a whale.... Your pic makes me realize that I have not been to Chicago for a long time. I used to visit Chicago every summer because of a trade convention.... but Millenium Park was not there when I visited Chicago last time......Anyway, a beautiful cityscape of a night! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 1, 2005 Fabulous image, Linda!! I love it ... what a wonderfully unique reflection! Link to comment
bbrooks 0 Posted October 4, 2005 It reminds me of the worms from "Dune." The image itself is very well executed. Great Exposure and reflection. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted October 4, 2005 I was hoping to shoot this Cloud Gate last March, but the darn thing was under repair. Cool capture, Linda. I think it's probably better to shoot a little earlier when the sky is still a bit blue to add both colors and separation between the sculpture and the sky. Just my opinion. ^_^ Link to comment
root 0 Posted October 4, 2005 Love those nighttime reflections. I was just introduced to this by Dennis Dixson's recent upload from almost the same vantage point. Wilson makes a good point; I might pack a meal and camp out from sunset -1 hr to sunset +1 hr if I ever get to Chicago and have time to kill . . . and good weather. Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted October 4, 2005 What a wonderful image. My first thought was that the blob was a big whale:) At any rate the golden colours&light in this picture are delightful and the reflection of the buildings and the streetlights in the blob brings the sculpture to life and make this image bewitched. Greetings, Ada:) Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted October 4, 2005 Wilson...I agree that that lighting situation would be effective, but what I like about the whole experience with this sculpture is that you can capture so many different views. I like the way the blacks merge here, creating even more of the sense that the Blob is engulfing the city...Quick! Call Blob-Busters!! Thank you all for your visits and comments!! Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 4, 2005 The purple edge at the back of the blob make it look like it's moving to the right, an effect enhanced by the space you left on that side of the composition: a beautiful effect. Link to comment
