Collage of windows in Verona, Italy

billfoster

Ton of work here! Most windows were up high and not right so lots of transform, lots of cloning, horizontal flips, etc.

Well you did a great job at putting them together.I like the third on the left, it must have been where Garibaldi stayed or had family and as you know it says among others "...Rome or death...". Great composition, colors and contrasts.

Great job.

I love the gradient in colour and texture of walls. it's a pity that some windows look a bit tilted. I would have also left more space to the left or right of the windows. what about trying inverting the two columns? It would be interesting to see how it looks...

I adore window shots, so to have this many all together is VERY tasty!

The stories they could tell of sights seen and secrets hidden!

Bill , I really like the idea of the collage to group the photos together. Your pick of subject matter is good as well. Photographically the photos are well done. I am not sure that the space on one side, or the other, works with these photos. I know that the texture of the wall gives you some information about where the windows are,but to me I find the empty space a distraction.I think I would rather have the space on the ones that need it like the bottom right ,and not have it on the ones like the 4th on the left hand side. I do not know if you have any with people in them ,but if just in one of the photos there was a person,I think that it would add interest. It is a good Idea,I just think it need tweeking. Thanks for posting them , I am always looking for way to use themes in my travel photos.

At last, a thought out and useful critique! Did you ever get an idea and just decide, "I'm doin' it this way" because the idea is in your head? So, you carry it out because that's the plan whether it's workin or not ....

That's kind of what happened here. I had the idea to have rectangles with the windows on the side and inside. I liked the idea of having lots of negative space in each individual shot. Originally, it was supposed to be just windows and solid colored walls, like the top two. I wanted it to be much more abstract. But, I didn't get enough quality shots. I still like the idea, but your ideas have merit also.

BTW, there is an INCREDIBLE amount of manipulation here. They were all taken from ground level and transformed to appear straight. Most of them (maybe none, I don't remember) don't actually have that much space next to them. For instance, in the shot with the plaque, there is actually another window on the other side and the top and bottom molding continues all the way across. Even the one with the frescos has about 15% added to the right. Almost all of them have had another window cloned out.

I will return to this when I can. I like the idea of including one person in it. That would be quite cool. A Sophia Loren-alike leaning out the window would work!

Your portfolio is full of interesting themes, btw. Thanks again.

Reminds me of a poster my neighbor put together with doors from NY state. I especially like the lower right.

Well done! I love these kind of shots. The manipulation can be hard to straighten these out....to appear at ground level...(I give up!!) Nice work.

Very interesting presentation - windows within windows. The only thing I might not agree on with you is the inclusion of the title - after 8 windows its a bit redundant, bordering on pompousness, in my opinion.

Bill,

This is very creative. I like your selection of windows and wall colors. I especially like the boarded-up window in the middle right. It is different enough to set off the whole image.
