jim hayes 0 Posted September 26, 2005 And photographic proof that being "bush league" can be a GOOD thing. As always a shot that brightens up one's day.JH Link to comment
eimages 0 Posted September 26, 2005 Very nicely done. Just enough light to see some detail, and not enough to keep one guessing. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted September 27, 2005 Maurizio, You like this for the same reasons I do. Thanks for taking the time. Jim, I am glad it brightened up your day! Alex, Sometimes I can get it right Alex.... sometimes.... A special thanks to all the brain dead anonymous raters who seen fit to rate this so low without any explanation. Is it any wonder why so many talented photographers have stopped contributing to this site? What is particularly sad, is those running the site don't seem to care! Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted September 28, 2005 I have to think that you had one of the seven wonders of the ancient world in mind when you did this one. Well composed and imaginative as always. I won't get started on the ratings, we have covered that ground before. -Cheers Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted September 28, 2005 I have to be honest Owen and say I have absolutely no idea what I had in mind when I took this photograph. Setting out to take it, I had the idea of Don King in my head. Although this picture doesn't really show the 'Don' that I was trying to, I kept the title. 'Seven Wonders!' Let me think. Thanks as always. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted September 29, 2005 Owen.... When I said let me think.... I meant about a new series! Which one should I start with? "Pillars of....."You have lost me there Owen. I think the nearest this picture comes to is "The Colossus of Rhodes." The others are listed here. Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted September 30, 2005 Depending on who you read. The Legs were also refered to as "The Pillars of Rhodes" as well. In any event it would make a great series. -Cheers Link to comment
satee 0 Posted September 30, 2005 David, when I was in school one of our teacher used to say that ordinary object photographed from an extra ordinary angle becomes a outsanding pic. You have that acumen to tranform ordinary in to humourous and oustanding and I am rediscovering that by visiting your prtfolio and this pic is good example of that transformation. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted October 2, 2005 It is always good to receive kind remarks on the images I post. However, to receive a remark such as yours is truly humbling. Thank you. I am sure I don't deserve it! Link to comment
thwong 0 Posted October 2, 2005 very nice! I wonder what lenses you used. a big zoom from afar or a 50mm up close... I can't seem to find any of these shots walking around in Singapore!!!! Link to comment
John Peri 1,029 Posted October 2, 2005 Dave, that's a good theme you have here and there is a lot more you could do with it. I guess I remain too shy to take this kind of photo, but you are onto something here. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted October 3, 2005 Tien, Trust me close up is better for this type of work. I would like to point out that I didn't find this as I was walking throught the streets of Hong Kong. I did meet the girl as I waling through the streets but she was a bit shy to pose like this in the middle of rush hour. John, Unfortunately no theme here as yet John, unless you noticed something I didn't. The idea of a theme came from Owen.... (O wen will he reconsider contributing to this site again?) I have to agree with him (and you) it would make a great series. While some of my photos are on the edge, I feel this one is well within limits. That said, I would feel strange seeing something similar from from you. Thank you both! Link to comment
