zlm 0 Posted September 23, 2005 My first trip to the Canyon, and it was just amazing. Tried to find a nice place to sit to watch the sunset, and this wasn't bad. I'd love to hear some feedback please, so far my shots from this trip haven't been getting the best feedback, and I'd like to know why many people don't seem to like them, thanks! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 24, 2005 This shot is nice and the colors are beautiful. Concerning "...haven't been getting the best feedback" The Grand Canyon and such places have been photographed at least 25 billion and one times. It's an awesome place but so many have either been there or have seen so many images of the place. Your image isn't bad but because people have seen such images so many times, their feedbacks are not the best. Your images must contain spectacular elements, like a rainbow or lightning, to impress people. Do not be discouraged; as long as you're in awe with your images, that's what counts. Happy shootin'. david morgan 0 Posted September 24, 2005 You have done a very good job, the reds are very intense and the composition is fine with a good spread of light and shade. This could be used by a magazine looking for an image that defines the location. Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted September 25, 2005 My 2 cents: I live in Arizona. The scenery is fantastic. Smaller canyons populate the state, which is mostly empty. North of Tucson to the east, there is a huge "empty quarter" into which several European countries could fit with ease. My own County (Pima) is as big as the STATE of Connecticut..so pictures like this have to be pretty good before I'm attracted to them. This one is not so hot. most of the foreground has a huge sunset shadow that is obscuring detail. The background also lacks detail and looks like a primitive color print from an old Hammond's Atlas from the fifties... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 26, 2005 Thai has the right of it - this exact image has been seen far too often for it to grab people. Also, you're hampered here by what appears to be haze over most of the image, and a lot of shadow effects blocking out detail. There's nothing wrong with taking a shot of such a spectacular place, but even with a place people know so well, it's possible to get something out of the ordinary though it's often hard to do. What I suggest is being pleased you have a shot of a place you found amazing, smile to yourself when you remember it, but keep the eyes open for the shot that isn't so common. :) For all that, this isn't a bad shot... it's just that the bar is set extremely high for landmarks. zlm 0 Posted September 26, 2005 Thank you all, I really appreciate the comments. I'm not just looking for praise, just feedback, advice, etc, good or bad. The pictures are definitely special for me, reminding me of a great trip, I don't mind if people rate them low, I'd just like to know how to possibly improve next time, so as I said, thanks so much for the comments!
