"In the Liquor Store" - What was interesting about this store was the antique feeling and faint lighting which sneaked through the entrance door, casting a highlight on the lady. I decided not to use

When I passed by, my camera was still on the tripod and took this quick shot without flash.Exposure data not recorded. Somehow I was lucky, because there was not much movement in the composition. - Frame was added 27th Oct. 2001 without making changes to photograph.

Very nice. My one comment is the ladys arm being blocked by the bottle on the counter is a little distracting. But thats a small detail. Otherwise an excellent photo!

This photo made me think of who this person is. How many bottles does she sell, can't be much, so does she make enough money? I also want to second the comment on the bottle, though nothing you can do about it. I would rather have it such tht she was not in the middle of a motion (liek reaching for the bottle). For this prticular moment, I think it didn't work as much.

Nice photo.

Thanks for the comments. In fact, the moment I took the photo, the lady was serving a customer. I took several shots, maybe some with better composition. However the lighting turned out much different already, changing the ambience of it all together. In any case I wanted to avoid the use of flash, which would have destroyed the effect.

Philip, yes you are right. Today I went there again with my tripod, trying for an improved version. Inspite of showing my appreciation for the place, the lady apparently was not too happy, perhaps she didn't like what she had seen on photo.net....

This shot has such a wonderful simplicity about it. The composition is wonderful and lighting is so perfect. You have really captured a world and a life here. Nice catch!
