wim.ipenburg 0 Posted September 18, 2005 Do you like this old house. Feel free viewing the larger version but don't go upstairs...... Thanks for visiting. Link to comment
sharshar 0 Posted September 18, 2005 I love this! Your eye is drawn immediately to the far window because of the light and color. It has such a meloncholy feeling attached to it, it is brilliant!! Link to comment
ghuczek 0 Posted September 18, 2005 I like the greens in the image. There are strong connections between the green grass, the green wood trim, and the green vegetation seen through the rear window. I think that the green in the rear window, through the doorway, is a splendid focal point. The light coming through the window in the upper storey is perhaps too strong a counterpoint, both in brightness and colour. The primary blue in the sky creates a strong colour clash with the greens. The brightness draws the eye away from the more subtle details in the window frame just below it. I have tried a crop, retaining the square composition. See what you think can be done by removing the top window and the sky. Link to comment
wim.ipenburg 0 Posted September 18, 2005 At first, thanks for your comment George.Yes, I think you be right about your suggestions but I like to show you all, also the bird's home at the left. Link to comment
mihai_ragea 0 Posted September 18, 2005 good intention but the colours are a litle flat and the small window in the upper right part is not good for the composition ... best regards Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted September 18, 2005 and such a beautiful picture Wim! I love this kind of compositions. Where can I find this spooky house? Or is it already demolished? Like Sharon said it radiates feelings of melancholy; memories to a better past. You've captured this scene very well, Wim. Through the angle you choose there is so much to see of the interior of the house. I like the view to the window with the yellow panes and in particular the view to the stairwell. I think that detail could be a beautiful picture in itself. It's such a kind of a shot that invites to get worked up in PS to make it even more dramatic than it already is. Do you feel the hint Wim?;~) However, a fantastic and very interesting picture. I secretly hope that you have taken more shots inside of the house... Link to comment

ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted September 19, 2005 Love the subject. But I agree about cropping tighter to remove the small top window. The eye keeps going there due to it's brightness Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted September 19, 2005 Wim, desolation captured in a beautiful way. Excellent composition: whatever direction you look, it's crooked and yet with a dignity in its touches of green. I read the suggestions about cropping out the samll window. I'd keep it; it's the kiss of the sky--and then you'll do what you prefer:-) Link to comment
dk. 0 Posted September 22, 2005 Great shot Wim, about the top right window I would not crop it, but I might burn in there to make it less bright. Great picture you have a good eye. DK. Link to comment
