Hockey Girl - Brutal in the field/ Timide along the line -

Prachtige blik bij een mooie pose Ada!

Ik was helemaal niet zeker van deze foto wat betreft uitsnede en kleur of zwart/wit etc., daarom ben ik heel blij met je positieve commentaar.

 

Tja, vaak is het publiek langs de lijn interessanter om te fotograferen dan hetgeen er zich op het veld afspeeld. Dit meisje wilde eigenlijk liever helemaal niet op de foto en dat is duidelijk te zien. Ik heb dan ook maar snel geklikt voordat ze zich helemaal van me af zou draaien. Groetjes, Ada.

 

 

This shot isn't posed. I don't know this girl. She stood next to me

while we watched the hockeymatch my granddaughter played at that

moment. The girl took my attention because of her lovely face. But

she was clear scared for my camera. Each time she turned her head

away. This shot is actually a matter of luck.

Thank you very much for your positive comment. The original shot is in colour, indeed. I'll show you. I like that version too, but I thought that B&W should underline more the shyness of the girl.

Ada, sweet girl, and nice pose, the only thing is that IMO it is too tightly cropped, and in the colored version you have a lot more space.B/W is very nice. Pnina

Geweldig "live" portret, werkelijk prachtig in beeld gebracht!

Eigenlijk viel mij helemaal niet op dat ik naar een B&W plaatje zat te kijken.

Ik werd direct gevangen door die blik!

Die handschoen maakt hem helemaal af.

Die werkt als een soort rustpunt, of als een excuus om wat langer naar haar te mogen kijken.......

Het licht, ja dat was puur mazzel.

Het is moeilijk om zo'n foto met cijfers te waarderen.

Toch wil ik een 7 geven voor de ingeving die je kreeg en het lef om je lens op zo op haar te richten, en een 7 voor de mooie uitsnede/compositie en het kiezen van het juiste moment om je sluiter te bedienen, zonder te weten of dit ooit een knaller zou kunnen worden.

Voor mij is dit er een!

Thank you very much for your appreciation of my picture. I was also in doubt about the cropping Pnina and I have made so many different crops before I finally have choosen for this one. I thought that the attention would go more to the expression of the girl's face with a very thight crop. But perhaps you are right. At any rate I agree that it would be more nice if there was a bit more space between the lefthand of the girl and the frame. Many greetings Pnina and thanks again, Ada:)

Ik heb de foto in kleur laten afdrukken en zal hem afgeven bij de voorzitter van de hockeyclub. Hij zal vast wel weten wie dit meisje is en dan ben ik benieuwd hoe ze reageert. Ik weet haast zeker dat ze er echt niet op wilde. Ze stond al een hele tijd naast mij en terwijl ik foto's nam van de wedstrijd richtte ik af toe stiekem mijn camera op haar want ik had wel gezien dat zij de moeite van het fotograferen waard was. Maar ze voelde het gewoon, want telkens als ik haar bijna te pakken had draaide ze haar hoofd naar links. Daar heb ik dus ook een paar foto's van. Want niet geschoten is altijd mis! Maar een keer was het dan toch raak en blijkbaar nog goed ook. Jij hebt verstand van portretten maken dus ik ben echt heel blij met je lovende woorden:~).

P.S. Trouwens Wim in groot formaat (zoals hij van mijn camera afkomt) is hij zo veel mooier. Zo zonde dat je hier aan bepaalde afmetingen gebonden bent:(

I love the pose I wish I could get models to do this at our club. I think the black and white is better for the shot.

Nice to see you and yes, It was great to get this girl for my camera. But as you can read, actually this shot is stolen, because she didn't like it at all. Perhaps you have to be as brutal as I was. Hang you camera around your neck, go outside and if you see a nice girl, don't ask her but click! LOL

B&W much better - I was playing around with cropping - if you crop to just above the fence by the elbow it really puts focus on the eyes - they are not so high in the photo, it also takes the backpack pit of play. Just an idea :-) Also (while I'm at it) Lighten up the right side of the head just a tad, again it'll really put focus on those amazing eyes. - Rod

Hi Lannie, it's a great compliment that you thought this beauty belongs to our family:) But alas, were all looking very handsome h'm, h'm, but from such an appearance we can only dream LOL. And yes, B&W is better, isn't it?

 

Dear Rod, I've done a quick try with what you've advised me about cropping and you're right, your suggestion gives a better result. But if you knew how much time I've spent to come to my own final crop.... It wasn't easy. I thought it was important to keep the fence in the picture to express that the girl stood literally along the line. I'm very gratefull to you and I'll do my best to make a new version as you suggested with also a part of the face lightened up. I hope I will succeed with the last case because I'm not such a genius in PS (and that counts for my English too):~)

Dit is inderdaad een erg mooie foto, wat leuk dat je hem aan het meisje zelf wil geven.

Bedankt voor je com. op mijn foto. Ik had zelf ook al geprobeerd hem "kleiner"te maken, maar

dat was niet zo mooi.

Ook had ik grotere frames eromheen geprobeerd

maar niet goed.

(volgens mij vinden ze mijn insecten hier op pho

tonet veel interessanter.... :))

Dank je wel Ellen voor je compliment! Mensen kijken er inderdaad vaak even vreemd tegenaan als iemand opeens met heel andere foto's komt dan zij van diegene gewend zijn. Ik heb er hier van het begin af aan een rommeltje van gemaakt, dus van mij kunnen ze van alles verwachten:) Maar ook ik merk dat ik met een bepaald soort foto's slechter in de markt lig dan met mijn andere. Mijn 'ansichtkaart-foto's bijvoorbeeld (ik bedoel daarmee een onbewerkt stadsgezicht), daar zijn maar weinig mensen dol op. Dat is tenminste mijn ervaring. Maar ik blijf ze toch gewoon plaatsen al is het natuurlijk veel leuker als je wel veel enthousiaste reacties krijgt:~).

 

Zeg, ik heb bij mijn 'Into the Doorway' een heeel lang epistel aan je geschreven over het verkleinen van het formaat van de foto's uit de Canon. Ik heb daar namelijk problemen mee. Ik hoop dat je nog een keer tijd hebt om daar eventjes langs te gaan:) Groetjes, Ada.
