I turned my flash off and went for a silhouette look for this photo.

Some people may wish I was zoomed out more to capture all of the

wings of the bottom damselfly, but I personally think that would've

included too much empty space.

I usually specialise in landscapes but this took my notice due to excellent technique and optical quality. The DoF, lighting, composition, colours and sharpness are incredibly well done. Wish you more shots like it.

very very well done. Have you tried to rotate the image to emphasise the heart? anyway, just a thought. Excellent shot.

Camera to the left a little to catch more of the cut-off horny gentleman. That would also place the young lady's head nearer the edge of the pix, making a more strict photo. Back/sunlight through the wings would have made it extra-ordinary. Background still too much in focus. Do insects have emotion or just bonk, after releasing their attracting chemicals, and showing off their pretty colors--who knows.

With so many people taking pictures, it is hard to come up with something original AND interesting. IMO, this is one of the good ones, Bravo! 7/7

Hey Scott nice capture there, i couldnt believe it when i saw this picture as i logged in, only just the other day did i upload a shot of two dragonflies in the same position! I had a sigma 18-200 on my camera at the time so i had to use the long end and do the best i could focus wise. I actually dont mind the result i got considering, however, this shot is unique. Leaf texture, the pattern their tails make and the great light make this a stunnner! congratulations! check out mine if you get a sec...

I love the way you have caught this! There's plenty of detail and good DOF. Also checked out Tristan's take on the "same" picture, very good both!

professional quality. I like the image for the precise Dof and the lighting. the light in this image has sure been a very tricky business but you have found the right angle of view to keep its intensity from ruining your image. the field of view is excellent too, since there is nothing jarring in the background to steal attention.
