salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 13, 2005 We were at 3400m a.s.l. during an alpine ascent over the Swiss/Italian border and the shadows after sunrise were intoxicating in their beauty. Your comments on the composition of this shot (and on any other shot in my mountain folders) will be most welcome: I am trying to improve my craft! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 13, 2005 Beautiful photo. As for your question on composition, I think I would have done it with the rope coming from the corner. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 13, 2005 Salvatore, I like this a lot. The two lines produced by the rope and shadow are great, the cloud over the peak, the early light and shadows all work well. Don't expect to see this from me next year. Our tallest mountain is a little over 2000m. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 14, 2005 Salvatore, This is a great shot. The lines pull the eye straight to the subject. I love the way the scale of the subject gives a great sense of scale to this environment. The cloud over the peak is an added bonus. BTW..I'm headed out west for some desert and canyon shooting in few days. I have a new wide angle I think you'll approve of. It doesn't distort horizons :) Link to comment
pulok 1 Posted September 14, 2005 Superb image; use of the shadow and rope for composition is excellent. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 14, 2005 Salvator, it is a very interesting composition . the lines are looking like a compass, which the man is the center. Somehow it symbolises the search of man to discover the mystery of the mountains, sky are adding to the beauty. (and BTW Salvator, !others as well are trying to improve their craft... So critique of any kind from your own experience can be helpful, teaching and appreciated.) Pnina Link to comment

Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted October 4, 2005 It was the clouds that first attracted me to this shot. I love the way the wide angle view curved them just like the shadowed snow hill below. Of course the shadows really make the picture when you open the larger image. Great morning shot 7/7. Link to comment
owp 0 Posted November 26, 2005 I like the sharp lines that relate to the climber compared to the soft lines of the landscape. It depicts intrusion in my mind. Excellent shot! Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted March 28, 2006 ...good that I followed your link on your latest upload - somehow I missed this one. There are many good things about this picture - the clouds, the light, the snowy hill and the stony one, the shadow and the rope...great one! Link to comment
