Brian, these are the kinds of images that I think are missing from PN and they need a category too, unforunately I don't think a lot of people will rate them very well because they don't understand the life style and the photos aren't always glamorous or graphic enough. Your Spring branding portfolio is really nice and severeal of the images are outstanding. Thank you for viewing my meager selection of Western images, it will grow. We're busy preconditioning calves for fall shipping and moving pairs to fresh grass, we're scattered over 12,000 acres in 3 different locations so the gooseneck stays hooked up to the truck full time. The time I spend on PN is my R&R. I've rambled on long enough, adios..........SS

I agree about this Genre. The American Cowboy does not get the attention they deserve. William Albert Allard has done some excellent work if you have not seen it before.

I think part of the problem is that in order to photograph these folks you really have to spend some time with them and get to know them. I guess this is true of any subject. They are definitely a different breed of people. I remember that Spring Branding in Colorado and how all of the neighbors came to help. You don't see that in society much anymore. It is a memory that I will always cherish.

I cannot find an appropriate category for this image. Photo.net needs

a category for Western themes.

Comments welcome anyway.

Thanks

Yes, I'm familiar with Allard's work, and several other "Western" photographers that are successful are David Stoecklein, Jay Dusard, and Kurt Markus, there's also some lesser known ones that are doing some outstanding work. Also a woman photographer that's gotten a lot of recognition is Barbara Van Cleve. Sorry about the low ratings on this image. All of my photos are shot as images that I think will tell a story and the only audience I have to please is ME. I do enjoy sharing them on PN and I think I learn alot from viewing others work, but ultimately we're our own critics.
