salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 6, 2005 The trace left by the wet rope onto the deck is very interesting, as is the texture of the wood compared to the texture of the mooring line. The toning is nice and effective to pull out all of those. I might have concentrated just on a tighter composition of the rope and the wet trace...like an object and its shadow. Less elements might have worked to your favour for a more simple composition, leaving out the cleat (maybe the subject of another shot?) and the structure to the top right. Another thing to keep in mind might be to shot straight from above the rope: this composition with a sensible tilt seem to suggest the rope can slide down to the bottom left corner at any time. bbrooks 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Thanks for your comments. Every one of them are completely valid. I was shooting with my "Contraptions" theme in mind so that is why the cleat is present. I was shooting from above and this is as close to "over the top" I could get although I wanted to do just as you said. I have some other variations of this that I am working on and will hopefully post them soon. Link to comment
