salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 5, 2005 They really looked like five small ants...does this picture work in conveying the smallness of Mankind in the Mountains? Your comments on this and other shots in my mountain folders are much welcome! Link to comment
labuenaluz 0 Posted September 5, 2005 Yes it does Salvatore!, its shows a magnificent and powerfull mountain landscape, I speccially like the right shadows on slope in snow and the nimbus clouds in horizon, they "surround" quite well the little and fragile human ants following the stablished path, regards Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 5, 2005 Thanks Ferrando. I felt the same about the clouds coming from behind the Matterhorn and the Dent d'Herens at the horison. Funny enough, the well-estabilished path was running over a monstrous crevasse just behind the edge of what you can see in the shot, quite tricky to negotiate: almost luring you into troubles rather than leading you into safety. AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted September 5, 2005 Well done. The climbers are so integral to the composition. Some shots work well when there is a lack of scale reference, but this is not one of them. Let me just say "wow!" I will say, however, that on my monitor (which has not yet been calibrated this month) the snow has too much of a blue cast. Though I have no doubt, given the elevation, this was the colour at the time. cheers, Aaron Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Salvatore, it works very well. The clouds and shadow and the five specks produce a great image. It looks fine on my monitor. I guess that if I had to find something that I would have preferred to be different, it would be to have clouds contained within the scene, but that is a tiny nit. Link to comment
pawel_czapiewski1 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Breathtaking scene, Salvatore. It successfully conveys the feelings familiar to those of us who had ventured into the Mountains. imo reducing the cast and brightening 3/4 tones would benefit the print. Regards, Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 7, 2005 The main problem in my memory of the colours of the places is that I'm wearing glacier glasses in these situations... which warm everything up with the brown glasses, so I tend to believe reality is chromatically colder than it looks. I've updated the image with something warmer. Attached here the original shot, not to lose continuity in the discussion. Thanks to all of you for your constructive feedback! Link to comment

salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 11, 2005 A bit later, when they were closer, I took another shot looking straight down on them. You can find it here. Link to comment
