jana 1 Posted September 3, 2005 In the land of TSOATSOA where the time ends and the space begins I was the King. I am still there.. Link to comment
barreto 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Beautiful words Jana. Concerning the image I think that it lacks a little of space in the top and in the left. It is a little sad and anguishing to see the tree incomplete. The colours are fantastic. My land, Africa, is rich in colours, mystery, passion... Link to comment
jana 1 Posted September 3, 2005 Paolo, thank you for your kind words. I have that tree also not anchored, loose, but it is not so impressive. BTW I was there on a photo workshop and the composition is according to our pro teachres good. As the tree is anchored on 2 sides, it is OK ., It would be a problem, if I let only 1 side touch the frame... jana Link to comment
barreto 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Well, Jana, I am not a master, I am a simple man... simple. I have a soul (perhaps rude and ignorant!) and it is this soul that does not like the amputated tree. Many rules for times castrate the freedom! But I respect the opinions of others, I keep its ideas and I follow my way. You have great sensitivity and that is the truly important thing. tom t 0 Posted September 3, 2005 Lovely colors. But as someone already remarked you need a little more space on top and to the left. While you're at it I would go for a little less white at the bottom, so your horizon is sort of at 1/3rd. Also, the slant that kind of cuts through the tree at the top is a bit distracting. And you should straighten your horizon just a tad. This must have been a really impressive locatin, I'm guessing. Cheers, Tom Link to comment
jana 1 Posted September 3, 2005 Tom thanks. But I love the photo as it is. I have a lot of similar "perfect" photo's of that tree, but this one gets much more the dynamics. The white stripe is not a horizon. In the nature one cannot stage the elements to the perfection. I wanted to give the tree the dominance (that is why it is cut on 2 sides) and let the viewer see that the tree is surrounded by salt. I shall not change a bit about this image, as I intented to have it the way it is. Link to comment
jongaus 0 Posted April 21, 2006 I love this image as it is, I would not want more space. Most photos improve by adding a bit of 'imperfection', e.g. by cropping close, so that the viewer's imagination can complete what's not seen. The cropping of this shot gives a tight look which enhances its graphic expression. I think it's great work! Link to comment
