Guest Guest Posted September 3, 2005 Excellent, very graphical, sports mag cover material.Someone has given 2/3 ... why on earth? I believe there are a lot of photonet members who have never read the rating standard. It is here. Link to comment
bw 0 Posted September 3, 2005 My 2 cents. Soft. Where's the ball? I think it would have been better to have a bit more space in the top of the shot and lose more of his upper legs. Link to comment
murphymj4803 0 Posted September 4, 2005 Ya, like where is the net, the ball boys, the line judge, his opponent, the sky, etc.... Sometimes this site slays me with all the senseless pedantic knit picking. This is really a terrific photo in my opinion. 6/6 Link to comment
bw 0 Posted September 4, 2005 Knickpicking = 'submit for critique'. He is looking up into the sky at the ball he has just tossed up there. Therefore the ball has direct relevance to this shot. Linesman, ball boys and the goodyear blimp dont matter - the ball does. It is missing and the shot suffers as a result. Link to comment
murphymj4803 0 Posted September 5, 2005 No, the absence of a ball in this photo doesn't subtract from anything for me. Not showing the ball toss may in fact keep out clutter that would otherwise interfere with the simplicity and strength of the shot. My opinion of course. Link to comment
