Someone has given 2/3 ... why on earth? I believe there are a lot of photonet members who have never read the rating standard. It is here.

My 2 cents. Soft. Where's the ball? I think it would have been better to have a bit more space in the top of the shot and lose more of his upper legs.

Ya, like where is the net, the ball boys, the line judge, his opponent, the sky, etc.... Sometimes this site slays me with all the senseless pedantic knit picking. This is really a terrific photo in my opinion. 6/6

Knickpicking = 'submit for critique'. He is looking up into the sky at the ball he has just tossed up there. Therefore the ball has direct relevance to this shot. Linesman, ball boys and the goodyear blimp dont matter - the ball does. It is missing and the shot suffers as a result.

No, the absence of a ball in this photo doesn't subtract from anything for me. Not showing the ball toss may in fact keep out clutter that would otherwise interfere with the simplicity and strength of the shot. My opinion of course.
