graham john miles 0 Posted September 4, 2005 Wow, lots of mood, a wonderful old world feel, could be Italy, could be Cuba. A lovely sense of urban decay, but not in a bad sense. We are simply seeing the vestiges and fading colours of a past era, and they still possess a timeless beauty. On a technical note, the overexposed top portion of the shoes cabinet tends to draw the eyes away from the old man. I think the brightest point should be the layers of plastic to his left. I had thought that cropping the left to the edge of the doorway might tighten things up a little but it's an arbitrary point. It would square of the frame a little too much and I think it works better in a wide format. Great eyes and great skill went into capturing this. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted September 4, 2005 I like this as is. The different temperatures of light add an eerieness to the image... Link to comment
stupski 0 Posted September 19, 2005 Very unusual subject matter. Superb. Wish the verticals were a bit straighter, but noticed that only after staring at it for a long, long time. It's really wonderful. Truly original. The irony here must be that he's wearing a pair of thongs. Link to comment
