giggles 0 Posted September 1, 2005 I like the subtle sepia effect a little better than the B&W just because it is a little softer. The textured frame is a nice effect too. Your lighting exposure is very nice and it amazes me...you can actually see the little fuzz on his head. He looks like a doll. This would be neat in the hand coloring you do with a little soft pink on his cheeks. I have tried numerous times to handpaint from B&W but I can never get the skin tones right... Your eyes on this are wonderful as usual. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Emily- Great minds think alike. I was just hand-coloring this as I was talking to my daughter on the phone! :) I just posted it. Tell me what you think. Link to comment

wilsontsoi 0 Posted September 1, 2005 All 3 versions work in different ways. I think that sepia look always gives a warmer, softer feel to a portrait which is a good match for the baby (although the black & white is more drawing-like.) Again, the double softbox illumination is perfect for yielding the even tone. I like it. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Thank you all for the kind comments. They help lift my spirit. My heart is heavy with an awful feeling of helplessness and inadequacy as I watch the increasing size of the disaster unfold in our beautiful South. When will relief arrive? Please..... all Americans, write your Congressmen & our President. Demand action NOW! They are dropping the ball big time and people are dying needlessly. They do not have enough help, why? Who's in charge? I want to know. Ultimately the buck stops at ole GW. I was glad to see he finally cut is his umpteenth vacation this year short. Wise decision George, one of your first & only wise decisions! But a little too late and a little too little. I believe his time in office will be remembered in our history books as some of the darkest days in US history. He needs to go away, I give him a vote of no confidence. Hell, I give 90% of the idiots in Washington a vote of no confidence. They should all be packing their bags! It's all about money, and money means nothing when Mother Nature decides to give you a wake up call. Donate to the Red Cross, at least they are feeding some of these people. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted September 1, 2005 I like the sepia version best for its slight warmth (as Wilson says). The over-exposure works well giving a nice delicate high key image making those startling eyes even more the centre of the shot. There is a phantom 3/3er who spends his or her whole time rating shots at 3/3 or below and leaving no explanation. It would be nice to have some rationale but we are deprived of his / her wisdom and are the poorer for it I am sure....:-) Jayme, the disaster unfolding in the wake of 'Katrina' has appalled people around the world and I'm sure the good wishes and prayers of many are with those affected. regards - Colin Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Thanks All. I would love to rant and rave about the state of our union, but..........I would bore some, anger some and not solve a damn thing. Suffice it to say, I am mad as hell! If anyone else feels as I do, write our government officials and let them know where you stand. Remember, they are suppose to WORK for us, they are not doing us a favor! :) Of course they are not in session. They are due to return to work 9/6/05. Imagine that, summer vacation? Bull crap, they need to return to WORK! NOW! Sorry for being so angry, but I am being true to form, going through the stages of grief over our country's disaster. Eventually I will reach acceptance. Somewhere down the road! This from a long time Hospice Nurse, I know the process well! Bare with me! Link to comment
