colin carron 58,916 Posted September 1, 2005 I like the composition with the lonely tree and clouds with the rays of the sun over all. I am not sure about the grain effect so I passed your shot through Neat Image noise reduction for comparison. Not sure which I prefer... Link to comment
Link to comment
Marco Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted September 1, 2005 A magnificent, minimalistic landscape. Perfect composition, and grain... Hmm, total NeatImage tuning looks like plastic, IMO a bit grain reduction for the sky would not hurt anyway. So, I NeatImaged the whole photo, made a composite with the original, masked the land (love the grain here !), and let 50% opacity show through a bit grain in the sky to conserve the "film feeling". BTW, what is your impression of your 35 mm focal length of the lens in your "backup" Leica mini II - I mean, is it really wide enough for landscapes ? I am sitting on the fence for a second, smaller than DSLR camera, "pocketable" but good enough for landscapes (maybe the new Panasonic LX1 could be such a thing) Regards Carsten Link to comment
Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted September 2, 2005 I love the simplicity of the composition and the sun rays which radiate in all the sky. About Neat image, I think that the version proposed by Colin is too much smooth and doesn't look natural. Even if there is very much grain in your version I do prefer it even though. Yet, the Carsten's version is better than the Colin's version. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted September 2, 2005 I, specially, appreciate the efforts of Colin and Carsten. On Colin's eveybody agrees (as I do,myself) that is good on the sky but converts grass into sand. Carsten's is better. To Carsten:I am fascinated with my Leica Mini II. A bunch of spanish speaking photo.netters have recently bought almost every Mini II that appeared in e-Bay Deutchsland and are, all, fallen in love with it. I suggest you visit the portfolios of Paloma Ramirez, Mauricio Alcaraz, Marina Poblacion, Guillermo Labarca or mine. You'll see why we are all in love with it. BTW, price goes between 75 and 90 euros... Link to comment
pepa_de_rivera1 0 Posted September 11, 2005 Esto es un pedazo foto y lo demas son tonterias. Que te puedo decir: sutil, bella, estetica, maravillosa luz... Me quedaria contemplandola tiempo y tiempo Link to comment

I do not mind the grain at all. Colins version looks too artificial... and I also like the half bushes on the left, they make this image "different"... I think... do not know... Link to comment
