robertbrown 1 Posted August 30, 2005 M., thanks for stopping by. This was taken at a wildlife refuge north of Summer Lake, Oregon. Summer Lake is a huge alkali lake in SE Oregon. This road is one many criss-crossing through very marshy, mosquito infested terrain. I spent parts of three days photographing here and saw nothing but birds, rabbits, dragonflies, and a few snakes: not one single person. It's pretty desolate country. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 30, 2005 Bob, I'm a sucker for rutted roads leading into a landscape. For that reason, I find this appealing. I might consider adjusting the levels in the foreground a bit. It's quite dark on my end. The bright area of sky behind the mountain keeps pulling my eye away from the rutted road. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Robert, I've taken the liberty of quickly tweaking this with the Shadow tool. There is a much more striking image lurking in the shadows with a little more work. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted September 1, 2005 Jeff, thanks for the edit--it makes a significant improvement. Laurie, you obvious we in favor of a similar edit. M, this is really desolate country. There are places to park a tent--even a few very unappealing and uninhabited camping areas. I think more people flock here in October, when the migratory birds invade and the temperatures have fallen; it's supposedly a mini Bosque del Apache during migration. Link to comment
